I don't need massive space for this laptop I pretty much keep on 24/7. All I need is something that is going to run well, quiet and fast. I have a Winbook XL3 and I picked out this:

Samsung 40GB 5400RPM Notebook Hard Drive, Model MP0402H, OEM Drive Only

Model# MP0402H
Item # N82E16822152501

Specifications:
Capacity: 40GB
Average Seek Time: 12 ms
Buffer: 8MB
Rotational Speed: 5,400 RPM
Interface: Ultra ATA-100
Features: Fluid Dynamic Bearing Spindle Motor Technology
Packaging: OEM Drive Only

I like the idea of 8mb buff, not sure if thios is true but when I upgraded from a 2mb buff HDD to 8mb on my gaming machine I saw a huge difference. All I need to know is can I just slap this new HDD into my Laptop and run? Or is it different then a desktop? Never worked with Laptops before so I don't know how their HDD run.

Thanks.

Cliff Notes:
1. I want to get a new HDD (Samsung 40GB 5400RPM Notebook Hard Drive)
2. Will it work in my Laptop (WinBook XL3)

most laptops built within in the last 6 years you can upgrade the hardrive with no issues , the main thing to check is your notebooks hardrive bay most all laptop drives these days are 9mm thick some may be thicker best way is to take it apart check and match the phsyical size to whatever you buy.

last laptop drive upgrade i had problems with, wasnt really a problem it was a 10 year old canon inova book 360cd and the screw holes on the new drive did not line up with the computer.,, thats when you start folding an anti static bag up as a wedge

also notebook hardrives are damn near electronically identicle to their full size ide counterparts the only difference laptop drives use only the 5v leads for both motor operations and the electronics control board, Alot of people use laptop hardrives in full size desktops when noise is an issue, w/ $3 adapter
