Hello all:
I have an interesting conundrum here. I have been waiting quite a while to get a new system as my 1.4Ghz Athlon / 512 MB RAM / GeForce 3 is feeling very old and to top it all off my 60 GB WD hard drive is on the fritz. I have been playing the game of oh I will wait until this or this comes out then I will upgrade. First it was the Barton XP processor, but then Athlon 64 was announced so I waited. Oh, then there is going to be a 939 chipset, OK I will wait, and wait, and wait. Then finally its released and then here comes nVidia w/SLI technology. Great, now I have to wait for nForce 4 (and hopefully this will be my last wait).
However, my hard drive definetely has to go, I've seen more crashes the past month than my sanity can take. So my question is which is the best hard drive for temp purposes. In the future I plan on getting a couple of Raptors and maybe a MaxLine III, but for now I just need something to tide me over for a few (hopefully) months. I still don't want anything slow mind you just something decent w/a good price. I have been looking at the Seagate 7200.7 Plus line as well as the WD drives. My question is which is the better drive, I have had good luck with WD but never have tried Seagate or any other manufacturer for that matter (except maybe a Deathstar). I guess cost is a factor as well as I have found the WD drives a little bit cheaper, are the Seagate better in any way?
Thanks for any input,
