raid 5?

when someone says 'soft raid 5 200gb'
what does that mean? i've googled it but all of the explanation were very difficult.

software raid 5, no hardware except cpu doing the work. It's a feat brought in by the win2k server series. Generally a bad idea personally because you don't have a good sturdy card handling the array.
