Back in Feb I sold some Logitech Z-680 speakers to Wesley Gee (Aznghost at Anandtech, Chocobo here) in Canada. This was doen at the Anandtech forum. I didnt want to ship to Cananda, but he agreed to cover the extra costs-so I did. I got paid, he got his speakers, heatware was exchanged. I thought that was it-until I got a letter on the 12th from Fed-ex ground. It stated that the guy has skipped out on paying his duty fees-several attempts were made to contact him, but nothing came about. Now they are coming after me for the $70.00 & technically Im liable. Ive paid the money & I would like to collect from Wes or make sure he doesnt deal on this forum or any other if he doesnt pay. I PMed him on the 12th-he hasnt responded. I also emailed him to his 2 known email addys: geew@rREMOVEns.cc & geew@rns.cc the first was returned undeliverable & never heard anything from the other address. He is trading here under Chocobo-he uses Aznghost at Anandtech. he even got into a bit of trouble here by using 2 different usernames at Anandtech. Here (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=45&threadid=1234578&arctab=arc&highlight_key=y) is a link to that

Ive PMed him here & Anandtech but he has never gotten back to me. He seems to have disappeared the day after I posted my problem with him at Anandtech.

I realize this deal was done at the Anandtech forum, but he trades here often so I thought maybe you guys could help me get a hold of him.

My username is tboo both here and at anandtech

Any help is appreciated

Where does it say you are liable?

I wouldn't worry about it. If Fed-ex was stupid enough to deliver the item without collecting the money, then it's their responsibility and their problem. I have ordered stuff from Crucial a few times, and each time the Fed-ex driver wants me to pay the taxes and advancement fee. I paid the first time, but then got a bill from Fed-ex 2 months later. I called and told them I gave the money to the driver. Think the driver kept the money? Maybe! Anyway, since then I have refused to give any cash to the drivers and have opted to send a check directly to Fed-ex.

The fedex agrrement I signed before I shipped said if they cant collect the duty fees from the receiver then the shipper is responsible

Why did Fed-ex drop the package without getting payment?

It doesn't sound like Fed-ex is trying very hard to recover the money. You might try contacting Canada Customs and see what they advise. I once had a courier try to charge me fees/taxes on a warranty replacement. They said I would have to pay them, then apply to Canada Customs for a refund. I called CC and they told me not to pay the courier because if the courier actually paid the taxes in error (on my behalf as claimed) they could apply for the refund themselves.

Thats what I dont understand. Apparently its Fedex ground's custom to drop 1st & then try to seek duty fees

What dollar value did you put on the speakers?
