Long complicated story.
Short version:
I travelled 260 miles to buy some items at a "rock-bottom" price from a fellow member.
He told me he would be home, and wasn't.

I called him when I got in town. He was supposed to go on vacation, so I had to be there before 5.
He was supposed to leave at 5pm
He wasn't home before 5.
But he WAS home at 8pm.

I was an hour away at that point (8pm) when I called. I aked him if I could meet him.
He said...he was leaving in 5 minutes, he didn't have time.

I lost drive time, and gas money.
Do I have a legitimate gripe?

wow 260 milEs?! i would be pretty mad.. either way who leaves for a vacation trip that late at night? not sure man but that really sucks for you on ur part.. and the guy could have at least waited imo,, but then again my opinion prolly doens't matter to him heh

Originally I was supposed to buy 18 sticks of 256mb PC100 memory for $90.

One helluva deal, right?

Then he says he messed up.

It's 128mb PC100 18 sticks for $70.

I can get $400 easy out of that. So yes, I drove that far.

$330 profit for one day! :D

I wanted the memory by Wednesday. I told him I would send a money order. He says-fine.

When I offred to pick it up, he says he's going out of town on Sunday.
(How would he ship if he's going out of town?)

I called him this morning. Told him I'd be there by 5.
He said that was fine to "stop by"

And I agree, who leaves at 8pm?
When you get to your 12 hour destination, it's 8am. Hotel check-in isn't until 2-4pm.

Live and learn I guess.

The odd thing is he has lots of other items he sold. In his posts, he's got people asking

I hope he did, cause he's on vacation!

My grandparents own a condo in Myrtle Beach smart guy. And I ended up arriving at 9:30am. Don't worry about what I do, that's not your business... I wanted to leave at night so we could sleep a little while when we got there and still enjoy the day.

Here is an easy solution...

Next time, instead of driving the mileage, save the gas and the time, pay $20-30 for an overnighted delivery, and that way you don't have to deal with the bitching.... It'd be worth it in the end, because you said it yourself, so much profit off of the sticks, so might as well.

Lying again... you called from a 614 (WHICH IS 2.5 HOURS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!) area code at 4:39... not 3:30... i waited from 3 TO 4:35... you were never even close to my house, and if you were, you didn't call when you were close to my house... the surrounding area codes around me are 330, 216, 440... NOT 614... 614 is columbus and it's surrounding areas... yeah, you did keep calling, about 5 times or so... AFTER 4:39 WHEN I LEFT. Like I said, you weren't here at 4:39 nor did you provide me with a cell phone # to get ahold of you at, what was i suppossed to do? keep waiting and make my drive to south carolina even longer? And if I didn't get to the post office before 5, i would have had to bring the stuff with me and ship it out in SC, which i didn't want to do, nor did i have the room in my car to bring it down. He is from kentucky, he called from a PAY PHONE, the caller id said PAY PHONE. Whats the point of calling back a payphone? I checked the caller ID when I got home at 8... He called about 5 minutes after I got home.... I would never deal with this guy, and I have already sold the ram. I waited 35 minutes after... if there was a delay he should have called... the post office closed at 5, and i couldn't wait any longer... He refused to ship first in the beginning... he has 0 heat, i have 9 heat...
