Resized a partition, but not quite? plz help

i used 'drive snapshot' software to resize the partition from 30gb to 15gb roughly. the program said it was possible, it said success. it happened exactly like this:

but now in disk manager in win xp, it still says C: is 30gb, yet its 15gb at the same time. in diskpart i can't make another partition either. ARgh!

Uh,

I think if you format the main OS partition you have to do a full system dump in order for changes to take affect. It's what I had to do when I got my new PC.

i didn't format the partition i resized it. and what do you mean by 'full system dump'?

Reformat the partition and put a new fresh install of Windows on.

Have you run chkdsk? I had the same problem after resizing a partition, I ran scandisk and while running it detected the partition at it's new(correct) size. Mind you this was win98, but it may be worth a shot.

alright, ill try running chkdsk again on it tonight. i ran chkdsk /r before, and after, drive snapshot did some chkdsk to update things.

Not only the software is BETA, the description is BETA as well, suggestions are welcome

I this stage Id recommend Disk Patch (http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/)
it can rebuild the partition table from scratch

some of the features are disabled in the demo version of diskpatch, what do i need to do to get this space back?

chkdsking it again didn't work btw.

yea, i noticed it was beta, but i never had a beta screw up on me like this before. know of a good freeware program that resizes partitions?
