i'm running redhat 9 on a pretty decent machine, p4 2.4, 512 ddr.
i decided to try fluxbox. i installed it with the rpm and now it takes forever for anything to happen in X. like when the system boots and X starts to load at the point where the gdm login should come up, it takes like 2 minutes and the cursor is an hourglass. when it finally comes up, i login to kde and it takes another couple minutes to come up. i clicked the system monitor and it took a minute or 2 to show up. once it loaded, it was not actually sluggish, just waiting for it to open.
if i `killall X` X restarts itself but is still slow
i uninstalled fluxbox but the problem persists. i'm not sure what kind of info you need to assist me so just let me know.
