I need linux equivalents of some windows programs, such as:
DVD Shrink or DVDXCOPY
Alternatives to XMMS, programs that are more like rythembox.
Quicktime
Also need some websites and guides where I might find some nice looking Truetype or cleartype fonts and how to install them as well as some themes for KDE.
Also, does Mandrake 10 support external USB hard drives? Just plug it in and it works kind of thing?
If I think of any other programs I need that also are not in the sticky thread i'll post them.

as for the USB hard disks, most should work without a problem, but there might be a few that don't work quite right.

Mandrake has the font installer in the control center. All you have to do is click add, and navigate to the font.
There is no one utility for makeing a DVD. There is a great howto on http://forums.gentoo.org, but it is mopstly test based.

Why don't you just use Rhythmbox for a media player? Not good enough?
You might want to give Amarok a try, it's a KDE media player. I like Rhythmbox and ZINF myself.
As for fonts, I did it the Gentoo way, so I can't really help you there. Although for TrueType, I think you want to look into Freetype.

As for USB external drives; you need USB compiled into the kernel or as a module to use it, but it shouldn't be much of a problem to use it afterwards.

All you have to do to make the TTF fonts work is copy them to your /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/TTF directory. In my experience, of course.
KDE Themes? Google. Please. Now.
