I am just curious to see the responses. So, what do you say? Antec over Fortron or Fortron over Antec PSU? Thanks in advance.

Both are excellent quality supplies, construction-wise. Buy whatever supply is cheaper/easier to get.
If you're concerned about noise, I'd check out silentpcreview.com or something, and find out which brand has the quieter supply in the power rating you want.

I've been saying that the whole time, it's just that Antecs have better regulation per the specs. If anyone has actually tested a large group of Fortrons and can show some data suggesting that they can do better than or at least +/- 3%, then by all means go ahead and post.

Ive blown up 4 Antec 380w supplies..... came stock in cases..... replaced with Fortron 530W or SuperFlower 550W battleships, all rock solid.
There are only 3 supplies I would ever consider....530W Fortron, 550W Superflower, 550W PC-Power+Cooling.... $80, $80, $250 respectively.

i'd take a Fortron/Sparkle over an Antec any day.
i had 3 550w True Control units that read below 3.3/5/12v with my DMM. even after i had adjusted the rails to the maximum they were still low. they also seemed to fluxuate too much.
on the other hand, my FSP530-60GNA has solid rails that are spot on, or a tiny bit above 3.3/5/12v. they don't fluxuate as much as the Antecs rails did either.

I have a 550watt EPS12V Fortron running my overclocked Xeons, 6 hard drives, overclocked videocard, and the rest of my system. It's never even blinked. Only cost me about $80 also.

Both brands easily meet the ATX specs. That's A-OK with me ;)

wow and I thought this forum was antec biased too. Guess not. Ocforums and xtremesystems are extremley fortron biased though. If you want a laugh go post this thread over there.

Fortron..they've been building quality PSU's for many years,if you measured a PSU by weight..they always win since they have massive heatsinks. Vantec Stealth should also be on the list.
You didn't mention Seasonic..it's the equal of any top PSU ,just harder to find.

and that would be correct
rsnellma you should probably fix that before a mod sees it :p
Id vote Antec,
but that is simply because Ive seen the multimeter logs on various Antec TruePowers
but not any on Fortrons

or a PC Power and Cooling 450

the above from

http://terasan.okiraku-pc.net/dengen/tester2/index.html
there is also the differences in models to consider
especially when its a difference in architecture, like between tthe True Power and a different Antec model line
oh and just for comparision
Codegen 300X1

the initial instability at startup is likely the amp load
from having to spin up the drives and fans, and is very common in most all the PSUs in those links

Id vote forton for longevity. Ive seen old fortons around that still work fine.

Forton/Sparkle believer here. As a previous poster stated, power supply quality can be measured in weight. Hold two options, one in each hand, and decide which you would least like to be hit upside the head with; a fortron will beat an Antec any day. After my current experience between the two, I'm sticking with Forton and Sparkle. Can't get a better deal than that, on any front except noise (and that's where Thermaltake comes in).

Ice czar, they reviewed the Aopen "FSP rebadge" 400 watter on that site (check it out) and it didn't deliver as clean power as antec/pcp&c
Don't get me wrong anyone. a difference here of 1 or 2% would make very little difference for most.
