Is there a popular known P2P network on Linux? I have some videos that are too large to send via mail and have a group 30-45 users that transfer back and fourth.
Also wont mind looking up some MP3's as well.

why not setup an ftp server, proftpd; or bittorrent is another option.

with proftpd you can make it be any port you want, i'm almost positive you can do that. You can also try, limewire (http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml) which has a linux port.

Try amule its a emule clone for linux, you can apt-get it if you have freshrpms on your repositories list.

Consider sftp for security's sake. Having plaintext username & password combos flying around is bad form. If you have a recent version of ssh, you have sftp, and there are plenty of clients around to hook into it.

I'd say BitTorrent is definately the way to go for this.
And might I recomend Azureus (goole is your friend) as a client... While it is a java program, it's slicker than catshit & has a built in tracker which would greatly simplify getting things rolling.

I'll recommend BT too; with a few seeds with decent uploading speeds, you can pass the files around pretty fast.
And again, I'll agree with Azureus like amoeba says; Azureus is a powerful BT client and is actually pretty fast. I'd never think I'd recommend a program written in Java besides Eclipse. :p

I don't use Limewire myself, but it uses the Gnutella network and I hear it's pretty good.
I still think Bittorrent would be easier and faster if everyone was downloading the files en masse.

I am new to linux so lets say I want to use bit torrent for Fedora Linux, what is step one? Is there an RPM I can install? I do I download and install bit torrent?

http://azureus.sourceforge.net - they have dirextions on how to do a manual install of azureus bt client.
I think if you use YUM (Fedora has the YUM package manager in addition to RPM), you can install azureus too by making yum install it. I don't know yum so I can't really help there.

Thanks - worth a shot.
I'd do bittorrent for it.
