ok.. i asked about the sn41g2v2b in another thread.. but i think it is the one i am going with
what can't i change? vdimm? but i can change the voltage on the processor, right?
so here is the question..
if i get a sn41g2v2b what processor should i get? all bartons, i would try to get it as close to 400 fsb as possible..
35 watt 2200+ mobile 1.35v
45 watt 2400+ mobile 1.45v
2500+ xp 1.65v
and if i get one of the 1st 2 choices, what memory will i need that can handle either processor at stock voltages?

If you want 400FSB, it's best to pay the slight premium for the Nforce2 Ultra chipset.
i.e. SN45G

from what everyone is saying, the sn41g2v2 will do 400 fsb, just not officially... there is no premium with the sn45g becasue it is actually $50 cheaper... i would turn around and spend more than the $50 i save on a video card though.. either way.. i like the looks of the g2 case a lot more.. the g cases look too plasticy on the front...
unless i get a used 45g i can't change the vdimm anyways... and if everyone knows about this problem, why hasn't shuttle fixed it, and why does it affect several different models?
or do i buy a refurb 45g from the egg (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=56-101-410R&depa=1) and hope it is the original motherboard that doesn't die with the vdimm change? my guess is that it is a refurb becasue someone killed it by changing the vdimm...
i am stuck.. but i really would like to get this order done so i can have it...

built several Shuttles, the SN41 wont do 400 fsb because of the built in video (officially) but I have managed some good o/c's using mobile bartons and an AGP card. The SN45 seems to have a problem that if you get a V2.0 m/b and change the vdimm the board can die for no reason. However put PC3500 in it and leave the vdimm at stock and as its got Nforce2-ultra chipset with official 400fsb support you could go over 400fsb.

and what ram do you recommend using with this cpu and at what fsb should it all be running at?

or do i want to use SATA? do the shuttles support both, only sata or only ata?

there isnt a K7 shuttle that has sata built in ,
i use a promise sata raid controller
there is not a big performance increase using sata over ide, unless ur running a WD raptor

45 watt 2400+ mobile 1.45v
My current mXP does 2.4GHz...it was the first frequency I tried other than the stock 1.8GHz...booted fine and was stable for a few weeks...UT2k4...Doom 3 etc.
I'll try to go higher once I increase my cooling...
My last 45 watt 2400+ mobile 1.45v did 2.3GHz in my NF7-S...
This is a knockout processor for $75
And as everyone else has been saying...get the SN45
EDIT: I have a SATA contoller for my raptor...works very well but you'll need a floppy drive to install windows :-D
