Teschke.de got their hands on a next generation PSU,which will be announced on Cebit this year, the Antec 350 W Phantom.
What make this PSU so special ?
It operates at or above 80% efficiency by using dedicated circuits for each voltage output and does not needs any fans or external heat absorbers.
The PSU is the same size than all other ATX12V 1.3 PSU.

Special Features:
• Fanless design ensures absolutely silent operation
• Extruded aluminum casing is directly attached to internal heatsinks,
for maximum heat dispersion
• Dedicated circuits for each voltage output eliminate traditional combined-output limitations
• Voltage-feedback circuitry improves system stability by delivering extremely accurate power
• Advanced design allows Phantom to operate at or above 80% efficiency
• Industrial-grade protection features include over-current, over-temp, over-voltage,
and over-power protection
• Gold-plated connectors for superior conductivity
• ATX12V 1.3 compliant
• AQ3 – unbeatable 3-year parts and labor warranty

cool integrated heatsink case w\ heatpipes? (suggested in the url above?)
would make sejnse but just a guess
matte black \w cool perfd "grid" metal

It would have to be
consider what happens to the energy in a less efficient power supply
its directly converted to heat which needs to be removed by a fan

Very nice, i figured it was only a matter of time before antec hopped onto the fanless bandwagon. This will be perfect for the silent-freaks/htpc setups. Although i feel with the onset of highpower graphic cards that 350watts will not be enough in the near future (for power rigs anyways). I'm sure antec will adress that issue with higher powered units so fear not everyone :D

I like the case/heatsink design btw

The Inquirer mentioned this several months ago. What they also mentioned is that there is going to be a 500+ watt unit that has a fan. The fan only turns on when the power load gets real high, says the rumors.

well it looks trick enough that
maybe my PCPower & Cooling need an Enclosure mod
(purely for looks of course, there really isnt an air stream for it to sit in in a rackmount)

wtf

the design will just pour heat into the case, meaning another fan will be required to push it out

Pour heat into the case? Ummm, heat rises, so I would assume that it would "pour" heat into the outside which is high than the insides of the case

would depend on the air flow scheme
there is huge interest in silent PCs
I dont personally understand why, I never hear mine over the AC anyway :p

Pour heat into the case? Ummm, heat rises, so I would assume that it would "pour" heat into the outside which is high than the insides of the case :rolleyes:In most tower cases, the top of the power supply isn't open to the outside. Thus, with the Antec Phantom, the top heatsink will not receive airflow, and hot air will stagnate in the area between the case ceiling and the top of the power supply. A little bit of the heat will be dissipated by the case ceiling, but that's not going to be very effective at all.

No doubt about that.... but it's not going to "pour into the case"

Hehehe, I <3 my Addtronics 7896a, it's got a fan above the PSU

Yes, but when will it be released?

And when will half life 2 be released?
