I'm looking to buy 4 80mm case fans. These are for a dorm computer, so I want them to be as silent as possible, while still providing decent airflow. I have no idea what brands are good, or even what features I should be looking for. I'm thinking a fan controller would be useful as well, but I don't know which fan controllers are good either.

Any reccomendations would be helpful. It is also better if they are available on newegg because I'm planning to purchase some stuff from there this week.

Thanks,

Kevin

Well some popular brands are Panaflo and Papst, but Arctic Cooling (of VGA Silencer fame) looks to have some interesting and quiet fans now. Actually there seems to be a lot of quiet fan makers now if you look around.

Yea, I see a lot, but I have no idea if they are as good as advertised. I was hoping to get some firsthand reccomendations on fans. I don't want to buy some then find out that they aren't very effective.

Thanks for the replies..i'll check out that site also.

Hey. I'm a Kevin aswell :)

Anyway, as said before... Papst and Panasonic (Panaflo) fans are amazing. The rest, I dunno so much about. I'd spend the extra penny to get one of the above..

Silenx fans (http://www.silenx.com/productcart/pc/viewCat_Z.asp?idCategory=3) are extremely quiet. But they'll cost you a lot, just like a Papst.
