Ok, after a fresh install of WinXP Pro SP1......even worked fine for a few hours, ran all windows updates, then played some games...

Abit NF7-S
XP 2000+ Tbred
1GB Corsair PC3200-LL
ATI 9600 Pro
ATI Catalyst 4.4
DirectX 9.0B
Nvidia chipset drivers

Etc....

Upon reboot, I get the default VGA adapter mode and these errors in the event viewer...

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling ATI drivers, tried running SFC, etc.......I've gone to the /system32 folder, manually deleted those files after uninstalling ATI drivers from Add/Remove, rebooting, then trying to reinstall ATI drivers.

The weird part is, windows will boot fine and the default VGA mode will look and operate normally......but when I try to go the ATI driver it boots to the 8 bit 640x480 safe mode.......

No go.....can't get it to go away and it refuses to reinitialize the ATI drivers no matter what I do.......

Error Messages in Event Viewer.....

Unable to open the Server service. Server performance data will not be returned. Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.

Any ideas, thoughts, links, solutions, etc..........would be *greatly* appreciated!!
