Do you guys this it is nessesary to get an HDD cooler for the Raptor 10k RPM drive?

Your not giving us much to go by here. If you have a good case, with good drive cooling, it's not needed. I have a Coolermaster tower with my 2 Raptors in it, and they run quiet and cool. If your case isn't designed too well, and doesn't do much for the drives, it might be in your best interest to throw it in a cooler.

well i plan to put the drive right in front of an intake fan i have on the front of the case.. aside from that i have another intake fan on the side, exhaust on top. and the mother board (Abit IC7-Max3) also adds an exhaust fan through the back of the case..

My 74GB runs qutie chilly, no hd cooler needed...now the older 36gb drive did run a bit more hot and loud...don't know if it warantted a hd cooler. If you got it right in front of the fan you should be fine...
They run similiar temps to 7200 rpm drives, cooler than some, warmer than others, no big differences.
