Right now, I only have one 60 gig HD and it's running out of space FAST.

I want to back up all my video files, because in the past, this computer has a tendency to crash quite often. Right now, I have around 30 gigs of files plus more coming that I want to back up.

Is it cheaper/better to get a DVD burner and back them up in DVDs or just get another HD?

DVD burner/DVDs can hold unlimited amount of space, as long as you have the cash to get more dvds. And a HD can be cheaper compared to a DVD burner, but with limited space.

Any suggestions?

How much space do you need? If you are happy with 250 Gb or less get the harddrive. Always good to have one to spare. Otherwise If you want unlimited space and cost isnīt an issue get a DVD burner of course. A bit slower to load/read from though.

But how much do 250 Gb of DVD-R discs cost? Probably more than a hard drive I would guess.

i have a lot of HDD space and a dvd burner and I have only burner 1 dvd so far and it was a movie. Best deal I can find on dvds is ~$1 each. If you're a deal hunter, you can get a HDD around $.25-.$33 per GB. Only reason I got the DVD+RW was because I was building a computer for a friend and they wanted a dvd drive, so I gave them mine and used the money they gave me to upgrade the burner.
