maxtor 200gb ultra series disappears after rebooting from standby

please note that this is not the same as the corrupted file problem which is quite similar - in fact, i already installed that fix and it seemed to do nothing

when i leave standby mode, the drive seems to be hidden yet the drive letter is still skipped. if i restart the computer, it reappears just fine but i want to know why its doing this when i put the computer on standby

Does the disk show in Disk Management after you put it in suspend?
And how big is your PSU?
