all 3 campaigns were fun as all heck in SP. MP was really fun on LAN too. aliens versus marines is a really great lan experience with friends
this game is fun, but when playing as a marine its pretty scary, keeps you on your toes. :p

Yah AvP2 is a lot of fun.
AvP2 Expansion is pretty cool too. It goes straight into the action and its not easy. Its also really short.

Play them. I have never played games that scares me so much as AVP. Kind of kills the Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. When you have played AVP games these just donīt have any affect on you.
I actually tried replaying AVP last year. Came to a level where there is some outdoor area with a lots of containers. Itīs like a labyrint almost. The weather was all dark and a lot of dust flying around and the wind blowing. I hear my motion detector beeping.
Since I played it before I knew there would be a lot of aliens in there and I remember how on my toes I was when playing it the first time.
I just froze. I couldnīt make myself proceed any longer when I knew what was coming. It was easier the first time when I didnīt knew :(
So yes itīs an awesome game and quite different playing as a Marine, Predator and Alien. All modes very well done too. I would definiatly play both perhaps you can find a nice package including them both for a nice price?

multiplayer is a blast... you can be a facehugger and stuff... the single player rocked... predator was fun.. you get to trap people with nets and steal their heads, marine is phucking scary, the alien campaign is really dizzy but still pretty awesome...
the predator campaign on the expansion is fun but its pretty hard... a whole grip load of aliens chase you and theres a bunch of weird ass plants in the ground that try to eat you

I remember playing AVP1 on my TNT card. 1024x768x32bit.
HOLY MOLY! It had wicked damage models, totally dismemberable models, great lighting/sound, etc. Not to mention the first incredible looking water (reactive to you). MP was fun as well (even though the pred with his disc owned all).
All this and it run WELL on a TNT card. I was impressed to say the least. And the atmosphere really set this game aside in my mind as one of the scariest games I've ever played (anyone remember the offer that game in the box for some underwear) :)
Cheers,

.... I recommend that you play the game with the lights on and your whole family standing behind you making physical contact via a hand on your shoulder or the like during the whole time you play ... you will thank them later .:)

AVP2 is good, but AVP is great.
The original had a better feel to it. That game scared the crap out of me! The environments were also more true to the movies. Plus you feel like you're on your own without any chance of rescue, adding to the fear factor. They ruined that in AVP2 by surrounding you with Marines. Yet for some reason they always seemed to single you out to send on these terribly dangerous 'lone wolf' missions. I get the feeling that my fellow Marines didn't like me very much...
BTW I'm a big fan of the movies (Alien and Aliens, the other 2 sucked).

Play the first level of AVP2.
The motion tracker is always interesting to hear as it make sounds when you can't see anything.

I found that AVP2 wasn't as scary as AVP1, but I like the MP in AVP2 a little more.
The marine with the rocket launcher for me, and we play with the alien lifecycle on, so if I hear a beep on the motion tracker that's within five meters or so, point the launcher at the ground and fire, always takes out them with u :D That or its one less human to face-hug.
But my lan group doesn't want to play it after our first 2 lans or so with it, prolly cause beat the hell outta of them :)
Hmmmm speaking of, gonna find my AVP1 and try to play thru...(didn't really finish it)

AVP was much better than AVP2. I just really disliked the Marine campaign in 2. Can't remember why exactly, but I think it was because it was shorter than the first.
Yes definitely play AVP first.

I have a fear/hate relationship with the motiontracker.
There's no telling how many rounds I put into doors that I opened because of that beeping.:D

there was one level where i was outside and this chain was moving causing the motion tracker to move. so i was like "oh whew that scared me" then i got killed by aliens. i was displeased.

A little addition to what I said earlier:
When we first played AVP2 we played it for hours upon hours, and when I went to sleep that night I kept hearing the motion sensor bleep and be like "o hell, aliens!"
Ya, marine is most fun to play, simply for the fear factor.

"Anytime, anywhere."
"Right, right, Somebody said "alien," and she thought they said "illegal-aliens," and signed up."
"fuck you man"
"Anytime, anywhere."
"Hey ripley don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect yah."
"yaaaaaaaah"
"Check it out. "Independently targeting partical-beam phalanx. WHAP! Fry half a city with this puppy. We got tatical smart missiles, phase-plasma pulse-rifles, RPG's. We got sonic, electronic ballbreakers,! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks..."
"Knock it off Hudson. All right, Gear up! Two minutes people. Get Hot.
