I havent had one problem with my computer, until I let my brother use it...
From what I understand happened is that he downloaded a crack for a game that would let him play without a CD, however, when he executed the crack he unleashed a wave of spyware and such onto my computer.
At first I was totally unable to do anything in my primary OS so I booted into my secondary OS (which also happens to be XP Pro incase it matters) and continued to run Spyware removal software and Viruscans. This now allowed me to boot into my primary OS and clean it using spyware removal and Norton Antivirus, cleaning out the system.
Now comes to my problems:
whenever i attempt to run windows explorer and access "My computer" my computer comes to a hault and I have to use Task Manager to close out of explorer which is taking all of my processor's cycles. I am able to use IE to browse the contents of my pc, and would be able to live with this, but without the use of explorer I am unable to install any software onto my computer.
I am also seeing processes in taskmanager that appear as a seemingly random mixture of letters and numbers (for example: qwe341yoio.exe). I tried finding the source of these and deleting them but they always return, I also tried to prevent them from starting when i load windows by removing them from the startup selection, however they continue to return.
The specs of this PC are:
AMD 1600+ XP
GA-7DXR
256 MB of PC2100
Radeon 9600 Pro
WD-200BB ( C drive with primary OS)
WD-600BB ( D drive with secondary OS)
WD-16000JB (Networked drive for the house)
If I need to include any more information I will provide it for you.
Thank you for your input and taking the time to read this.
