All I can think of is that the NTFS partition table is corrupted or something...i have a feeling that a repartitioning of the drive would solve this problem, but does anyone have any other suggestions?
EDIT: It is worth noting that I also experience massive data corruption on this drive. My primary physical drive is fine. My machine is overclocked, but is completely stable in Prime95 (24+ hours) and Memtest. Dealing with large files (such as DVD backups) always renders them unwatchably corrupted. I also sometimes find unused files that cannot be deleted.

my mem is actually qualified to run at 2-3-3-6 and it is set higher than that...2.5-3-3-8, with the tRas being 3.
Does anyone think that the harddrive could be permanently damaged?
Or does this seem like a problem that can be corrected with repartitioning?
(It is an 80 gig drive, I have nothing to back it up on, so i want to be sure before I go through the effort)

My apologies! I didn't read the sticky, i am reading it now...who would have known, im the one that started that thread...
Edit: This thread might as well be combined with that thread...I don't think we will know anything until I take the plunge of backing up this data. The only thing that bothers me is that I wont know if the transfer itself corrupted data, as 60 gigs of mp3's, movies and installations can't really be tested for integrity.
I will let you guys know the status when it happens.

Try unoverclocking your PC to see if it behaves that way.
worth trying anyways.

Nothing is overclocked but the chip. The MB, ram, buses, etc are all running at their qualified speeds.
The chip is a fine overclocker, with little voltage increase and safe temperatures...prime95 perfect too.
Could the fact that my ram timings are looser than spec be considered?
