Does anybody know how to calculate the number of necessary domain databases? My MS Press book is not useful in that. I’d appreciate it if someone could help me out with this question. :)

The recommended Windows NT domain database size is 40 MB. Performance is likely to suffer if the domain database grows beyond this limit. Your company plans to have 50,000 user accounts, 40,000 computer accounts and 500 group accounts on the company-wide network. What is the minimum required number of domain databases?

Huh, good question. I can't remember ever seeing a formula for calculating that, and no MS certification test I've taken had such a question on it (not to say it's not in the pool though).

That's kind of an amusing hypothetical question though. No company outside of the Fortune 50 is going to have a domain with 50k user accounts and 40k machine accounts. I wonder if those guys actually built enterprise forests that big even ...

Qualm,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and especially the link. I too start thinking I have been looking at an old source, but I¡¯d still like to learn the stuff. I already saved the link. Once again, I appreciate your help.

:)
