My question is I already have the 36GB Raptor and a WD 7200 120GB Special Edition 8MB Cache. I have the 120GB w/ a serial ATA adapter so both drives are serial ATA. What I want to know is can I set up a RAID 0 Configuration with just the two Raptors, or will all three have to be RAID 0 and I'll have to partion the 120GB out myself? Can someone help me out here and let me know? I want to keep the 120gb standing alone while the two raptors will be in RAID 0.

T[H]anks.

youd probally need 2 of the same drive (model number the same) ...so i dont think you can raid with the 74gb raptor and the 36gb raptor. im not too much informed about raptor more than the next guy, but umm...some body correct me if im wrong :)

you really want to use identical drives to raid espeically since that raptor is fater.

So will installing RAID 0 on the two different Harddrives effect performance a lot?

the faster drive will be held up by the slower drive, as for RAID 0 it needs the data from both drives before getting the next piece of data (basically)

Same for size, 3x60+3x80 drives in RAID 0 will net you 360GB of space, not 420GB (if my math is right, damn head is too stuffed up to think).

Best way to run RAID 0 or any RAID is gonna be with matched drives.
