SATA drive hangs during POST....

I've got an Abit NF7-S and a WD 200GB SATA hard drive. When the SATA is detected, it shows the hard drive as the primary, and hangs there, it doesn't show anything on the secondary (not even "no drive present"), it just hangs.

I have the newest BIOS, and there is nothing on the hard drive. I have tried switching cables.

disconnect and get it to recognize its no longer there
then try again

alternately clear CMOS and start over
