I read the titlae and was expecting a link to Bit Torrent or Kazaa or soemthing like that. I was shocked to see a real Microsft link posted!

If I had a 64-bit CPU, I'd try it.

how the hell are you going to use the 64bit for your computer?
not to be rude or make u feel stupid, but do u have a freakin 64bit processor to run it? and its a preview.

Well someone try it out and see how well it works on their machine. The lack of drivers to support most of the hardware out there is what im worried about. And 32-bit drivers wont work in this 64-bit version.

how the hell are you going to use the 64bit for your computer?

Its for the people that already have A64's. Naturally it will do no good for a person with a 32-bit processor to download it lol.

It would if said person was planning to get an A64 or knew someone with an A64 or wanted to just to say they have it.

wonder if you can dual boot with this "trial" OS

Yes. Both the 64 Bit, and 32 bit os use the same ntldr/ntdetect. If your dual booting with XP, the loader that comes with the 64 bit CD, will be newer, but you can dual boot them both.

so far so good, cant get sound up and running but both my audio chips are via envy based (pt on mobo and revo in pci slot).

other than that everything ok, aquamark would run but 3dmark03 would. score was 6200ish i didnt write it down. that was using the default driver on my 9800xt

Did you have any problems installing directX? I went to microsoft and it said that it didn't support that version of windows.

Well, I didn't get very far. During installation, I pressed F6, and tried to load the VIA SATA drivers, but Windows setup claims they are "corrupt" (even though they work fine installing the 32-bit Windows XP.) I might try newer versions, but if this doesn't work, I'm gonna have to live without XP64 until there are 64-bit versions of the VIA SATA drivers.

You do need the 64 bit drivers. It took me about 5 tries (and 3 floppy drives) to figure that out.

Where do I get the 64-bit ones? How can I get them on a driver disk such that setup recognizes them correctly?

I think it needs to be said:

For 64 Bit Windows, you need all 64 bit drivers. 32 bit drivers will not work.

What do you expect to happen once the trial is up?
If you want it, buy it. If not, go back to your old OS.

Your sig is too long. Trim it down to 10 lines.
