Saw this link on slashdot, didn't see a post here. Here's the link to download the 64 bit version of windows xp. It's a 360 day version.

Anyone know if you can install the 64 bit preview as a dual boot with an existing Windows XP 32bit OS?

:D I just got it, this OS isn't cracked up to be all that much. I like Windows XP Pro 32-bit. Maybe it's just me, but then again this is also just a preview edition.

well nothing at the moment if you don't have an AMD 64.

the fact that it is a 64 bit OS is why people want it.

That will change when UT2003/2004 gets patched for 64bit. I'm assuming other games will follow. The benefits for 64bit are really going to show in gaming. I suspect the Athlon64's have the potential of exceeding any 32bit chip that Intel releases when running in 64bit. A lot of it resides on how good the 64 bit drivers will be though. Once again, it will be pc gaming that is really going to push 64bit.

I'm sorry, I have to disagree. Gaming isn't going to push 64 bit, Databases, Development, and photo/video editing are the wins for 64 bit. Games are second since games run plenty fast right now... ;) And game currently don't need to address more then 4GB of memory. ;)

For the every day hobbiest- it will be games. AMD will have to push 64bit in gaming and multimedia to get it into the home consumer market. I respect your opinion, but I still think it will be games that will bring the 64bit OS to the every day consumer market- it won't be Photoshop or DIVX encoding.

ok, i hope this posts this time... [H] has been kinda slow lately. last post attempt timed out.

what you have to understand is that the business market that ranma_sao mentioned is much larger than the home gamers market. sorry, but that's the facts. yes, gamers will push 64 bit, and very much so, but in the end, it's the business end that will push the most.
