What's the Program that allows you to remove certain programs from starting up in windows?

msconfig

You can also check your "Startup" folder in the start menu/programs. Delete anything out of that folder that you don't want to start. You'll find more stuff with MSCONFIG though. Just go to Start/run and type in msconfig and uncheck any unwanted items as well

X-setup is a program that will also allow you do edit your reg in a user friendly enviroment, and it even organizes everything into easy categories for you....

I think it is availble for Win98.

well msconfig is a feature of windows and is very user friendly :) no need to get an all over tweaking application like x-setup when all you want to do it stop some stuff from starting up.

personally... i'd stay away from msconfig and do everything manually. just check your win.ini file, your startup folder, and there's a few registry keys to check called "Run" and "Runonce"... search for them. pretty sure they are in win98.

there used to be "regcleaner" but it had troubles with hyperthreading cpu's...had to start it twice to work properly.

then they came out with a new one that works with HT...no longer free but there is a trial that works just as well...also creates a REG backup file, double click to re-install the entry.
