PCI SATA expansion card

does anyone have any experience with PCI SATA expansion cards? i found a bunch at newegg but they range in price from ~$20 to ~$150. i was hoping to go with the cheapest but best performing one. i just have no experience with expansion cards like this. anyone have any suggestions?

I have a Promise IDE card that performs very well. I would imagine their SATA card would be just as good.

Just make sure whatever you get is based on the Silicon Image 3112 chip. Beyond that most of the price differences are for bundling, branding, or features (such as raid)...
