Being away from Linux for a very long time and I never used gentoo before but hearing good thing about it I decided to try it now.

I ran into small problem I am not sure if this is normal or not.

I used the quick start guide

got to the point of preparing disks, by some suggestions I went with reiserfs now when I go to mount it looks like the system just stalls out and sits there.

/dev/hda1 (boot)
/dev/hda2 (swap)
/dev/hda3 (linux)

I pretty well much followed the docs I am unsure if mounting should take this long

I also have the problem of the console not scrolling so I can't see what I am typing. So i have to press enter to see stuff.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

does it give you any errors at all? or what is it saying before it hangs. Also one of the bestplace to get gentoo support is the gentoo forums. for some reason gentoo has one of the best communitys around.

Have you formatted all of them? If ReiserFS doesn't work try going with ext3.

i think you will need the reiserfstools package or similar to use reiser partitions. It mentions it in the install guide.
this is when you type the mount command after fomatting them and everything?
what command are you entering?
