Anti-Virus Program

Hey, I am pretty sure that i have the odd spy ware and virus on my computer. What program whould you recomend that I should use to find them and delete them?

Spyware - "Spybot Search and Destroy" I got it free of a german website.

Virus - Norton Anti-Virus Software.

AVG is by far the best totally free Antivirus on the net (http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php).
Free virusdef and engine updates for however long you have it installed.

I thought I had heard that AVG is no longer updating the virus engine on their free product, only the virus definitions.

I have had bad luck with AVG. First, it didn't detect a virus on one machine. On another, it would detect it but could remove it etc.
