I'm looking to create a partition just for my OS. Want to know the exact mb of it so that I know how big of a partition for it. Will updates for the OS go into my OS partition or can I store it in the other partition I made? And just wondering if this is a good idea? Thanks in advance.

With a 120GB IŽd use a 20GB partition for OS, and the rest of the disk splitted in 2 or more partitions leaving room for data/games/music, etc...
Good Luck

It really depends on what you install on your system.
For me, I can use 5gb for the OS partition and still have more than 800mb free without any problems at all.
If you wanna go the safe route, I would use 10gb for the OS partition. I think that will be plenty.

i use a 40 gig hard drive that windows is loaded on and most of my programs are installed on. most of my games are installed on my 80 gig secondary drive as well as all my documents and downloads. my 40 gig drive has about 10 gigs used. this is with numerous programs installed. just remember it's better to overestimate your needs just so you don't run out of room on the partition (although i suppose you could resize it with partition magic, but if you don't have it that would be a problem)

I made a 5 Gig partition for the OS and everything associated with it and been running for about 6 months with all of the updates, add ons, etc and the drive registers 4.04 Gig used slack and all, so a 5 Gig partition would work well for a OS only partition.

presuming you don't put any application on it 5gb will be fine. I use 5gb myself and only have a couple applications installed on that partition.
