Check this out....

http://www.bastaards.org/Misc/jdesk.JPG

This is an active desktop setup, without using the resources of the MS active desktop abortion.

You simply use the desktop.htm as your wall paper and the java takes care of the rest.

In the upper left you have the time and date, google search, dictionary.com search, console (run programs, launch apps, launch browser etc)

Beneath that are the app links in an expandable tree.

Upper right is a text pad and lower right is a calendar.

This is all on your desktop and is customizable by you to change wall papers, links, anything you want.

This stuff freakin rocks.

You can see my setup and get all the files by clicking here:

NAV gave me a warning about a possible malicious script, so I decided not to go ahead with it. I will wait to see how others do with it first ;)

probably because it allows you to run console commands from the desktop, its not really anything to worry about.

That is true. WHat happens is the setup allows you to run ActiveEx controls from your desktop an the computer isn't sure you should be doing that. I Since the coe is all internal and self-contained, it is not a real threat.

Take a sec and look at the HTML, use a text editor to open the CSS and the JS files, noting inimical about the code.

Found a hacked theme that matches almost perfectly and gets rid of the blue start/task bar!
