i m doing a mod right now which is puttin a computer into a VCR so it looks like a VCR but its reallie a computer and where the tape goes in is the CD-drive and where the display is, is the temperature and everything....in other words, its gonna be a [H]ard mod but having a mod like this is gonna require some planning and a lil help
my biggest problem rite now is to find a micro-atx mobo thats approximately 8 inches or less length and width...or sumwhere around tat size... OR just a place where i can buy micro-atx mobos. the thing is i want this to be a cheap mod so i m not going for the best parts and overclocking is a possibility but doesnt hav to be that good... i just need a small motherboard and it can be a refurb or used as long as it works......can anyone post a place that i can buy it or where i can get it?
THANKS:D :D :D :D

The micro-atx spec is 9.6" x 9.6" (maximum). Most aren't that deep, but I think ALL of them are that wide. That's the only way they can fit all fours slots (PCI, AGP, etc.) onto the board. If you want something less than 9.6" wide, it'll probably be mini-itx. Depending on what you want to do with it, that may be a good or a bad thing.

ive looked into mini-itx boards but so far i ve only found the ones with intergrated CPUs and i prefer non-integrated ones for easier future upgrades and such like perhaps overclocking as a 'maybe'
if u see a source for cheap mini-itx boards that doesnt hav integrated CPUs, please post a site...thanks

im doing the same thing with an old dual tape deck that is a little bigger then a vcr and i can almost fit a full atx mobo in it. the actual space i have to work with is 9" depth 17" with and 4" hight. i wanted to make it my primary computer but that damn 1 inch! (my mobo is 12" by 10" anybody have any ideas on how to extend the depth an inch. it is basicly a plastic face plate then two picese of steel screw into it creating the depth and the rear plate screws into those two. a bottom piece of steel anchors into that box and an upside down U shaped piece of metal covers the top and the sides. does anybody have any good ideas on how to exted the depth one inch without major metal work?

chill out man...
mini-ITX boards all have integrated CPUs, well, the ones that are readily available at least. If you're just using it as a HTPC then they'll do the job great. The reason they're so expensive is BECAUSE the CPU is integrated, and as is the rest of the features you'll need. Pretty good sound, video that does the job, as well as everything else you'd really need. Add some memory and a hard drive and you've got yourself a full working computer. That and they're tiny. They're about the size of a picnic napkin, and you'll have plenty of extra space in your case.
There are some P4/whatever you want mini-ITX boards, but they're made for OEM usage, and you probably wont be able to easily get your hands on one of them unless you're willing to pay upwards $300.
If you're looking for something like a uATX board, do a search for flex ATX boards, they'll probably be more along the lines of what you're looking for. I can dig up a few links probably, but no guarantees. You probably wont be o/cing much in such an enclosed area..

$145 or so, it seems.
mini ITX 533 max fsb spt... some celeron/370 boards there... not a bad price IMO. but it's more expensive than the VIA/Eden approach :P
