COD issue: cant start SP/MP games from main menu

For single player, once I choose the skill level, it just stays at the main menu and the music starts again.

Same thing in MP after choosing server type.

My dets/nforce drivers are all current. I've tried at regular clock speeds.

It seems the pak files aren't copying from my CD properly. They are the right size on my disc, but not when installed on my HDD. Even manually copying/pasting doesn't fix it.
Sounds like bad copy protection to me.
Anyone know an easier way to fix this than getting a new disc?
