i have a microsoft optical mouse with an insanely bright red light. is there any way to dim this thing when im away from my computer, i.e.: sleeping?

Get a piece of clothing that is laying around and cover it up. Or anything else that is laying around.

Even better yet solder an on/off switch, I'm planning to do that to my wireless mouse to help conserve battery life.

If it's USB and plugs into the front of your PC, just unplug it.

the manual said there's some resting stand that came with it, i never knew how it worked
