I picked up an ancient Sidewinder 3D Pro joystick, and it works like a charm, with one notable exception. The rudder control (the "twist the handle" one) is slightly off, even after calibration. This means that in flight, my spiffy Battlefield 1942 fighter slowly rolls to the right, with the occasional jerk to the left as I angrily correct course.

So my question is, might there be a way to fine-tune the setting of the joystick beyond the means of the built-in Windows calibration utility?

And yes, it's a game question, but really it's a hardware question that isn't specific to a game, hence it's posting here in General Hardware. :)

I have a Force 3D stick (Logitech brand). The twist grip is fubar, I just disable that axis in whatever games I play because it a) won't center b) will jerk to the left randomy and c) is not accurate at all. If I could pop the stick apart, I could probably clean the little sensor, but this stick will be impossible for me to pop apart and get back together. Just disable it, or clean it. That should fix your problem. :)

i had a logitech, and i was always cleaning the twist sensor, finally ended up ditching it and rebuilt my sidewinder force feeback (w/ fan) power connector :D
