I got one a few days ago at a local store.. paid crazy price of $649.00 after tax. Im impatient and very good at getting bad parts for some reason so I wanted to get it local so I could return it for another with out all the shiping if it was defective. Ive had zero problems except it came with a bad DVI cable. Viewsonic is already shipping me a new one. Told you I was good at getting bad parts! Least the monitor is ok.

And it's part of the reason I decided to get one. Do you still like your's?

Yeah I bought one a few weeks ago, and was loving it till all the threads about the 2001FP started popping up, so I jumped on that bandwagon, and sold my VP 171/b for $420. Stilll a very good monitor.

Newegg.com is usuaully pretty good if they are offering an instant rebate on it.

Anyone seen any deals on this monitor?

You can go to compusa and get the 171 silver for 499 after a 100 rebate. You just got to fork out the 599 up front and wait for the rebate. Tax vs. Shipping is usually a trade off with heavier packages like an LCD which Newegg charges 15 to ship.

Well you can get the black one at dell right now for about $490, no rebates, so I was wanting something better than that.
I was a convert due to the monster thread Darkninja67 started last summer (thanks again!). I've had the Vp171b since September and LOVE it. Gaming rocks on it but I'll be honest here, it is still an LCD but UT2k3 is at least 99% as smooth as on a CRT and it is easier on the eyes too. If there is ghosting, it is so miniscule you won't notice it. The color and crispness is plain amazing. The pivot is really handy for scrolling through forums and it is just plain well designed - very adjustable and elegant.
Keep your eyes peeled for Dell's rotating sales, this monitor is discounted every few weeks it seems. Keep looking for online coupons to supplement as well. i believe I got mine for around $470 or so shipped. I've also noticed the silver one at CompUSA recently (with a 'great for gaming' sticker on it - looks like viewsonic is seeing it's potential at last!) - a great opportunity to see it in action.

Can I get a link to this part of the Dell website selling these things with a discount? I cannot seem to find anything on there for the life of me. I'm incompetent.

Funny how no one helped me out for the first couple days then it grew to become huge. Many people got this monitor due to that thread, such a long time ago. Mine is still going strong and I love it. Thanks bro! Bill

Anyone looked at the vp201b? Same panel as the 2001fp - 16ms.
