@razor1000:
I've got the offcial sony one, but I ordered a couple of the intec ones as well a few days ago, should be en route
I've got it wired with a s-video to rca adaptor, then a sony VMC-20FR cable, which converts all three rca cables to one connector to plug into the psone aux. av jack
sony sells the cable for like 30 bucks(mine came with my camcorder), but NXG makes a replacement cable for about $10-ish
using the cam cable, there's no soldering or anythign needed, just hook everything up end to end

You would have to strip the sync from the composite line...
Trivialy simple. There are several sync stripping chips out there, the LM1881 comes to mind. The Sony PSOne takes RGB from the PSX port only (and composite video for sync), you have to get the cable they were talking about earlier and plug it into the side to get composite video in.

The Sony PSOne takes RGB from the PSX port only (and composite video for sync) And don't you see some kind of link between the Sony LCD being ~$100 and the fact that it's probably the only one that uses RGB as the input?
I think most 3rd-party makers, considering they are trying to cut every corner necessary to make their panel the cheapest, would go with a solution that uses 1 wire and no sync-strip logic, instead of 4 wires and an extra chip.

Yes, I see them using the cheapest method. However, Analog to Digital RGB chips are cheap and plentiful, perhaps more so than composite video to digital RGB. In fact most composite to LCD solutions are two step, one to convert the composite video to a form of RGB, and then taking that RGB and making it something the LCD can understand. Wire is cheap. ;)

i have one, i took it apart put lexan around it, cut lexan to the size of 3 cd bays i have a huge a-open server case..
that wasnt working out well so i took the ps1 car adapter which is 12 volts to 7.5 volts, soldered a molex to it the yellow and the black yellow=12v black= gnd and now i have internal power.. but you shouldnt use it as a monitor because it isnt high def and you cant read on it, i use it to loop movies like car movies and stuff as a secondary display pics soon

Mine just arrived today and I got some time to play with it.
It didn't come with a wall adapter, but did come with the car adapter so I just hacked that open like the last person said and hooked it straight to the 12v in my power supply.
Video quality is..... eh..... very eh.... This is just using the s-video out converted to RCA video from my Radeon 8500.
Tomorrow I'll try using the hack that goes straight from VGA to the mutli-port thing. Hopefully it works like that and has better video quality.
Quality would be okay i guess if you were just playing a movie/visualizations or something like that.

I bet the ADC is probably thrown in with the LCD controller chip. Cheapness == one-chip method to me.

Mine came the other day, I haven't had a chance to plug it in yet. 7.5V for the DC power. brightness knob to adjust the backlight, interesting little screen. Most of the case is empty space. Very easy to place the screen behind a couple of 5.25" bays. My plan is to do a sheet of plexi, or tinted plexi and use adhesive to mount the screen to the back if it looks clean.

This thing does not like the TV-output of my GeForce 2... It doesn't display full screen, only a 3 inch screen in the middle. It does fullscreen with input from a video source such as a Dreamcast.
I was surprised that it had input jacks on the back, you'd think they'd advertise such a feature...
The video quality even from a video source was OK, though I was using a Game Gear power supply to run it, so that may be causing some trouble. When I have a full white screen or go far enoguh out of it's viewing angle, I can read 'Casting' backwards and mirrored. I guess that's stamped on the reflector. The backlight gets warm fairly quickly, and puts out static (dust was attracted to it)
