Goooood. Now I know I wont have any clearance issues.

Yeah, the 7000's are fine.....but the 7700's are technically listed as uncompatible...as even with a video card with no heatsink on the back, the fins basically do come into contact with the card sometimes, and something should be put between them. If your card has a heatsink on the back, dont even think of a 7700 in the Neo2.....no chance in hell. ;) :p

But yeah, long story short.....you should be fine. ;)

not to be an asshole, but that paint job on the DVDrom is horrible. you gotta sand it totally down. afterwards get some plastic primer, prime it, and spray a good coat of paint onto the faceplate on a flat surface.

1: There's no need to quote every picture for something like that.
2: It might have been the first time he had done it, and even though that's not what you meant, you WERE being a bit of an ass by saying that.....I'd still say it looks nicer then a stock drive would have.

Better yet, why not just pick up a stealth drive bezel for the Lian-Li that has the spring-loaded door on it.....matches the case perfectly and saves the trouble of painting the drive, and is just as convenient.

The look of the paint was bugging me though.
So I decided to stealth the drives. It was my first time trying it so it didnt come out
perfect. But thats ok I already ordered some replacement bezels and one lian li spring loaded one.

Agreed.....I actually like how easy it is to stealth LiLi drives, the tabs on the sides of the bezels snap off (when bent back and forth) very cleanly, leaving only a bit of sanding left if someone's really picky. ;)

Agreed, as epoxying the plate to the drive rather permanent.....if done "right". Double sided tape works really well, if you REALLY like the home-made stealth look over just buying one of the drive covers with the spring loaded door..../

I want to know what people think about the PC-6077:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-112-044&depa=0 (link is innacurate it has 4 8cm fans)

I'm about to build a brand new machine and I'm looking for something to replace my Tsunami. I had my heart set on a black Praetorian but the PC-6077 looks so good and with the drive bays the way they are I think it would be ideal for an H20 kit.

I've noticed nobody owns one though.. never seen one posted. On the one hand I like that I would have an uncommon case but on the other it makes me wonder what's holding people back?

My PC60 which I have already started to mod and cut up. Once the interior/exterior is powder'd black, all I'll have to do is buy/powder coat the mesh and get it installed in my windows I have cut and ready....this is gonna be one bitchin' machine, and I can't wait to have it finished. :D

How has it worked for you so far?

I like it alot. It's my first LL, so of course it impressed me. I did find it challenging fitting all the components in, but removing all the drive bays covers from the front and just plunking in a double rad was so nice to be able to do, and no serious cutting was involved. (The drive bay cage needed a little trimming) Plus the bonus is the rad gets to suck in fresh air, as opposed to case air like most top and back mounted rads.

Also, do you have any daytime interior shots?

I did a little photo shoot today for ya, Stellar

Glad you like it.

I sure do, partially because that's the same honeycomb mesh from mnpctech that I'm gonna be using in three different places on my case, and i love seeing it installed on other ppls boxes. :)

I have 1.5" on each side of my side panel that's left, the rest of the panel is just a giant hole....and I'll be filling that hole with mesh, along with my top window, and the large rectangle that i cut out of the front bezel infront of the front intakes. It'll be made that much sweeter by the fact that the mesh will be powder coated the same black as the case, and it's gonna be fricken pimp. :D

Thx for making me want the damn stuff even more. ;)

Haha, good call, except I had the ram on my X800XT-PE overvolted a bit, and running at 1.3GHz DDR with no ramsinks and it wasn't really THAT hot.....I've had a 6800GT also, and yes it'll be holding the OC back, but I wouldn't say it's a deathly issue to not have any 'sinks on that ram.

Ramsinks will probably be in the next round of mods, but I'm actually getting slightly higher memory OC's with the sinks bare. When I check 'em with my organic temp probe (finger), no alarms go off ;)

Nice work darkisz. How is the mesh attached? Pic?

Thanks, its attached with umm....friction :D . I just cut the piece to size vertically and about 4 inches long sideways. Then I pressed the sheet into the front panel frame and used an old clipboard and hammer to get it tight at the corner.

Haha...good stuff.

On a side note.....once I order the honeycomb mesh and my mesh fan grills from MNPCtech I'll be taking them in to be powder coated black also.....with some input from a bud 'round here I've decided to help the case live up to its name and truely become Perfect Dark.

When I take those peices in I'll probly even go to the extent of getting my I/O plate powder coated the same black...so that the rear of the case is 100% black.....I won't be buying/building a new rig in this case for awhile anyways....so it's all good.

1) Your sig is three lines too long and needs to be shortened.

Okay, here's my photoshoped idea of what my case may look like..

i'm an nvidia fan boy so nalu was the obvious choice, I'd probably like something different but i can't think of anything so if you've got a suggestion, shoot. The other thing i'm doing is putting a metal plate with various logos attached on the facing side of the powersupply. The one problem i have is that my laser machine is only 600x300mm, so i will have to put a join 2/3 of the way down as you can see.. but as the case is divided into sections it shouldn't look that bad.. if i can i'll run it with the section edge (along, diagonally down, then along again) but untill i measure properly i'm not sure.

remember this will only be a temporary side for lan's / comps and other special occasions etc.. that way the novelty shouldn't wear off to quickly :)

Not to be a prune but.....

1) Your sig is three lines too long and needs to be shortened.
2) Your case doesn't seem to hold up to its namesake...all I see is a few LED fans....maybe the lights out shots will help. ;)

thisisglen.....be sure to get pics up when you can, I can't wait to see your panel....and I'll be sure to get shots of Perfect Dark when she comes back from the shop. :D

I am about to take some new pics in the dark of the "Blue Beast" in the vga mode setting on my camera(just got a new digi cam and made the pics too big). I am going to take them and post them tonight.

Soon to be way more blue. I just ordered a Zalman CNPS-7000B-ALCU LED cpu cooler online and a dual 4 inch CCFL kit. It is going to look sick. I can hardly wait.

Haha, I'll show you "can hardly wait" when I get my case back....I've been dragging this thing on for months...and to finally have the LiLi powder coated is gonna be really nice....after that's done I'm gonna start on sleeving everything in the case, and covering up any/all LED's inside the case. Once all the LED's are covered up and the interior is "Perfect(ly) Dark" I'll throw in a couple 12" UV ccfl's to light up my DFI mobo's yellow reactive parts and it'll be bitchin. :D

It'll be a little bit better fit after the few additions....but there are so many people with a few LED fans in their system that I'd think naming a system after something like that sort of hastey. ;)

So i just got home from work with my new case side. I have to screw it together so i'll probably get some better pictures later because i wasn't able to get it in the right light while trying to hold the parts on the side at the same time! It looks awesome (and a lot more white) in real life..

for now check this:

Very nice Glen. For your cathode problem maybe a few 4" cathodes around the case hidden in some corner would give you a nice effect, Or a bunch of really bright LEDs would look nice as well. :D

I agree, it does look truely bitchin'.....but I'd opt for installing two or three 4" ccfl's in corners where they're hidden from sight. As nice as the etching is.....its ruined by the fact that I can see the cathode. ;)

Of course you can see that neon :p i just sat the plexi in front of my sisters case to take that photo (notice the carpet that it's stading on behind it) Once i get it it my case i'll do much better lighting than that :) you can count on me; as i see it i have 2 options:

1. Aqua, by using 4 small (2 Green, 2 Blue) cathodes in hiden places as suggested, or

2. Put in 1 or 2 UV lights, as nothing in my case would really light up but the etching would glow a bright white, which would also look cool..

1. Aqua, by using 4 small (2 Green, 2 Blue) cathodes in hiden places as suggested

That'll look MUCH nicer for the etching, and go well with the Nalu pic.....but four 4" cathodes is gonna be pretty fricken bright in your case, and it might wash out the pic slightly.

Actually, does anyone have a v1000? Even though its expensive, I love the new Mobo design, Plus it seems like wires would be pretty easy to hide in there.

So, anyone have it? (Any canadians know where I can get one apart form Premier Computer Canada? ;) )

You can find my V1000 Here (http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1027212638&postcount=1294) . They're not the easiest cases to wire, and the wires that come in it barely strech to where they have to reach (let alone with any slack for re-routing) But i have done it, so you could too.. most of the holes you see in my case aren't actually there though when you buy it.. you have to be willing to cut into it if you want really neat wires.

that's what I was thinking and no power connections to the video card

if you want a little more action, wait until I wire my 5 hard drives, 2 optical drives, 6800 ultra, fan controller, H20 and RAID5 controller card all in a PC-7

all things considered, he did a very good job and made some nice, clean cuts

thisisglen

I agree with cornelious, it would be good for a challenge..

Just 2 notes (in defence of myself of course) :D :

1. I do have a molex conector for the video card, only it's on the middle of the motherboard not on the end of the card.. which is equally as challenging..

2. I could add as many expansion cards, and HDD drives as can fit without mucking up the wiring. but anyway.. I chose to go with what i need, and it works for me

I also recon that H2O cooling is an easy way to hide cables because everyone just looks at the usually uv lit water tubes which can be used to hide the cables pretty well, so i'd say that's equally as *cheating as having no molex on the actual video cards. I will probably be going water cooling soon too, so i'm not paying you guys out or anything ;)

Sort of a random question but I'm looking at getting the Lian Li PC-7B and I was wondering if a Panaflo 120X38mm fan will fit in the front fan space? I know this case has spaces for two 120mm fans. I have one of the 120X38mm Panaflos already. I also have a 120mm Enermax clear fan. I would like my two my fans to match (anal like that. Which fan should I get to compliment the one I already have? The Panaflos are heavy!!! Anyone use them?

I wouldn't really call watercooling cheating....sure it draws the eyes....but you can still have a 100% cleanly wired case with h2O.....that's what I did.....and yeah the attention went to the tubing...but if you look, there's still now wires running amuk. ;)

Ok this is one of three computers i built for recent customers of mine. Its missing a 6800 and is on the way back, so it was watercooled SLI before the other card died. Also missing is the aquaero which also died ( X 2 ) and was sent to aquacomputer but now is lost somewhere in germany. The video cards are cooled by a single loop eheim 1048 with a HTF-3 Triple X rad and aquatube res. Second loop is cooled by a Rogge mod 86 chevette heater core with plug and cool fittings and cooling works shroud. Paint was done by me using Blue metallic effect that was used on some guys low rider, pics give no justice to the piant but under light looks incredible. As soon as the RMA parts come back this case will also be for sale so keep a look out.

http://img182.exs.cx/img182/7315/lianliwiring1sr.jpg
http://img234.exs.cx/img234/772/lianliinlight2qd.jpg

Power LED doesn't work properly; both front LEDs are being replaced with blue LEDs. Also, since that picture was taken, I have sleeved the fan extension cable going to the rear exhaust fan and also the two optical drive power cables. And after I did that, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong while creating my own male to male molex passthrough cables, and now I have Ultra X-Connect cables supplying power to the optical drives (I had a X-Connect that blew on me and took out my motherboard...now I'm using Enermax) I like the cables though...the theme now meshes better between the heatsink fan wire that you can see, the cable to the video card, the optical drive cables, and the ATX cable.

I'm also waiting on some 4" cold cathodes. The 12" CCFLs that came with the Vantec fan/light controller are too big to mount in the places I want to mount them, so I have them in temporary locations.

No pictures of the case all lighted up because my friend's digital camera takes pictures in the dark horribly. :(

Yes, I am sure. I tested with an LED from my old case just to verify that it wasn't the motherboard header as well. The LED is dead.

well guys, still no update on teh case, I'm honestly not really spending a lot of time with my comp right now. I still wanna get to where I wanna be with it with my mods and the rig itself, but I've had something/one else keeping me "occupied" for the last 5 weeks....new gf. I'm gonna have to replan what I wanna try and get done when with the case and go from there and at least get some updated ETA's for you guys.

I am still alive though, no worries there. :)

I have made some decisions and changes to my plans for my case. I could order a new side panel and get some of the bezel cut and repainted.....but I think I'm just gonna start over. I've got some more cuts i wanna do, and now that the case is powder'd, it'd make a little bit of a mess to the paintjob...so I'm just gonna get a new case, get all the cuts done (more professionally this time) and get the mesh welded to the case first.....and then get everything powder coated at the very end.

This is going to extend the case's ETA a little more, but in the end it'll be lookin' so much nicer that I'm not concerned.

Just thought I'd letcha all know what's going on.....peace.

I dont' really consider it going to waste....not only was the case a great learning experience...but it didn't cost me anything more then the $60 for the paintjob, and if I wouldn't have gone this far with this case, I probly wouldn't have decided on a couple things that have pushed me to order the new box.

I'm not sure what I'll do with this one quite yet, but I can hardly wait to get my hands on my PC-60B Plus and get to work.

Hopefully I can constantly have access to (or own) a digicam by the time I get the case so I can be taking some good worklog pics along the way and have a proper series of pics by the time I'm done with Perfect Dark.

So here I am braging to try and make myself feel better :) sorry about that.

Yeah thisisglen, that is a friggin' awesome case.

I need to borrow my friend's digital camera...made some changes to my PC65 recently, and have a few more ideas in mind right now as well. I'm looking at watercooling perhaps in the future, but the parts I priced would run me about $450, with the main culprit being the Danger Den NV68 water block I was looking at. Clean case wiring + watercooling is just so amazing to look at that I almost have to do it. On the other hand...and I know I may be branded a [H]eretic here...I don't overclock  and my temperatures with air cooling are already extremely good...

I just bought my first Lian-Li. It's a PC-7077B, I'll be gutting my Dell and moving the parts into this case, along with an Asus mobo. Here's a pic of it right now: (I'll update pics when it's done)

http://www.pbase.com/digifan/image/42478817/large.jpg

My thoughts on this case:

It's very light, I also have a Coolermaster Praetorian and it's fairly heavy compared to this case.
Very roomy, I know it's a full tower case, but I didn't expect it to quite this big!
Dual 120's and dual 80's are always nice.
It has a grill in the top for an additional 120mm fan.
I like the tool less front panel removal, very easy to work on.
No reset switch.
Front panel firewire is a plus for me.
Whats up with these mobo standoffs?
Love the vibration damper bushings everywhere.
Whats this? Sharp edges?
The built in card holder thingy seems pretty cool.

At this point I'm thinking it's a little pricey for what it is. I don't like how the side panels are folded after they are colored black, this leaves a slight discoloration at the folds, the silver underneath shows. I look forward to the build using this case.

EZ-Plug says dual video card on the inserted side, just like it's supposed to. And just because it's an older 20pin PSU doesn't mean it's horrible, expecially considering the video cards draw power from the extra 12v molex line and then there's the so called P4 connector for the CPU, so really what needs more power? If you actually read this thread you'll see i've tested this thing to check the power levels, at the same time i made the PSU modular, and they aren't going to be a problem..

And actually it's pretty quiet, notice the passivly cooled northbridge, and the big 5v slow fans that still move more than enough air..

Done.

Anyway, post your system.. i haven't seen it around..

Very nice bro.....I really do like the look of that setup.

I'm currently designing a case for use with Dryice....but I'd almost rather just hang onto my Lian-Li that's already modded and save for a Vapo to strap on underneath for the visual appeal and 24/7 use.

Nice wiring, now get that thing running. ;)

Funny you say that, as I have the Ultra-D, and I got a 3000+ Venice, with an X300 on the way...not 100% sure what I'm doing/waiting for with the cpu, but that X300 is gonna hold me over until I have the chance to grab an r520 or G70 when they're available.

We'll see, if the FX-57 is stuck with the coldbug like a lot of SD's currently are then I'll pickup an FX-55 when the price drops and throw it under some phase change, but if they do some core revisions and the FX-57 is "bug-free" like the FX-55...then I'll wait an extra month and spring for it. :)

LauperAL
05-25-2005, 11:29 PM
Well the fx-57 is amds flagship so itll serve them good to make sure there is no cold bug, and as far as I know they newer cores i.e. san diego and venice dont seem to have problems on singlestage just under cascades, but im with youon the x300 holding me over for a little while, I expect the newer cards price to range from 500-700 and I plan on using my boards sli so, it def will be lasting me a lil while.

Whichever way it is, next thing I'm buying is 2x512MB of either Mushkin PC4000 Redline or GSkill PC4800LA....and after that, an r520.....so it'll be some time before I actually drop the cash on an FX chip. It will be my next cpu (either the 55 or 57) but I've got time to let the results come in after the FX-57 is released..and for prices to drop a tad.

I see, I plan on buying it the moment it comes out, cause if the case is the same as the old 55s, and some of the newer venices the newer weeks tend to clock better, but I dont wanna spend 1k+ on a chip that cant even handle phase, so maybe ill wait it out for some reviews

I used a hole saw to cut the circles, you can pick one up at most hardware stores. Not hard at all just make sure you have a powerfull drill or things could get sloppy.

Not sure what they make the windows out of now on Lian Li cases but if its Acrylic you need to be really carefull with that as it will crack easily if you put alot of pressure onto it. My origianal one cracked on me when I was replacing the fans after a couple years from the heat and sunlight and I replaced it with a sheet of Lexan I got from work (5 finger discount :P).

I love how you did the mobo tray rad / res, wish I had thought of that :) Nice Work!

madmat
06-07-2005, 11:16 PM
Thanks, I had a bay res in my old case and I wanted to free up the 5.25" bay it took up so I went with the rear res and I figured since the mobo tray had a single 80mm hole all I had to do was chop in a second one but due to the width of the rads I had to remove some material from above the first slot cover to attain the spacing I needed which was 6mm between the fans.

After that it was just a matter of chopping in the second fan hole and mounting it all up.

I run the rear and front fans as intakes and use the PSU and the 120mm blowhole as the exhaust and my temps are actually pretty good.

Eventually I'm going to replace the 3/8's tubing in the rear and all the 1/2" tubing inside with blue Primochill and I've got a PCI cover I've drilled with 1/2" holes to accomodate 1/2" copper tubing that I'll use as a pass thru for the rear tubing, it should really pull things together when it's done.

It is a custom job. The LCD is a Matrix Orbital that had a silver face plate originally. I took that off and replaced it with one of the Li Li bezels. I just cut an opening with a dremel. That was pretty easy to do. The fan controller is actually a CM Aerogate I. That was the tricky one to do because of the little button to change the LED color. It's not round. Took me 2 bezels to get it right. 1st time I botched it up. 2nd time I had to go out and get a small file to sand open the hole to match the right size of the button. The button doesn't actually connect to anything. It's just got a little rubber boot that attaches to it and stays in place with the face plate.

Not anodized....it has been powdercoated a flat black.....and there's more to come....the mesh and fan grills and some other accents (gonna eventually get all my screw heads, and the cdburner case done too) powdercoated the same black...gonna be schweet. :D

I never realized how big those were. Makes me glad I got the more refined looking (IMHO) Coolermaster Hyper 6.
