As i said in the wiring thread...looks very nice considering there haven't been any serious mods to the case.

Can't wait to see it with the TRUE installed, good job man. :)

Should be here Thursday. chip is already doing good at 1333 (3GHz), with the stock cooler and 1.3v. I really like that everything was able to turn out good, and all black.

I'm going to chime in here...
Also, IF you're in the Toronto area and are THINKING about buying a big ass custom case that costs more money than most budget systems...DON'T...Get a hold of Lanpirate, and for the same (or less) money, he can build one for you.

I am humbled by your words sir..
And for you gallery fans, her's a pic from this summer of another project. Name that Lian-Li!

No mod to post right now but I am working on it. In the meanwile I have a question.

I bought the PC-A7110 and bought with it the top T-713 becouse the Lian site recommended it that it should fit. NOT. Lian Li changed the (wrong) site already

The T-713 does not fit. Yeh it fit but the place where the USB is on the top is to small. It's from an older model with no S-ATA connector there.

Does anyone now witch top plate with 3 pre-modded holes will fit on top?

The site from Lian Li itself does'ent react and even mail no reaction from Lian Li.

I know It's the wrong place for a question like this, but I don't know where to ask it otherwise.

Pike

Well, from what I can see, the T-71 is the one you're looking for. The site says it's new but only takes 2 fans

Its only a problem with extremely cheap motherboards with solid metal pipes, which are not real heat pipes. Which I don't think really exist. Heat pipes work in any direction, due to the wick; rATX orientation will not affect anything negatively - it may help with cooling due to heat from expansion cards (such as graphics cards) being able to move away from the card rather than up towards the card, then up into the CPU HSF (depending on card and venting)

I dont have any work logs in the forums here. I have many pics, as most of us do who mod PC's, in folders on my hdd. I could post some of the Lian-Li pics here. I have Antec and coolermaster builds also. I will start a worklog for sure if VolvoR's client gets me to build his next PC. I think its going to be a Cosmos though.

Thanks :D
It's one of the easiest mods you can do... just swap it with the factory switch like you said... then you'll have the extra LED lead which you can plug into the Power LED header or the HDD LED header on the motherboard, depending on what you want the light on the switch to indicate... and then push it and enjoy :)

Oh yeah, I got the one with the screw type terminals on the back rather than the tabs... makes wiring and longevity better in my opinion.

Yeah, when you remove the stock switch on the V1000, the 22 mm Bulgin switches fit in it perfectly. All the ones on the page I linked you to are 22mm.
They have smaller ones too (16mm) that are good for reset or CMOS clear switches (if you overclock alot) ;)

If you mean that you somehow place fan on side panel where those holes are then yes. It will be a close call (1-2 mm remaining by my measurements), but the standard 12cm fan width 25mm width should fit.

The V1000 PLUS II comes with a side fan bracket. Roughly estimating I am thinking it is a no since the bracket has a good amount of width as well. With just a fan I think it might be possible. I wanted to know whether it fits with the fan + bracket. Just wanted to make sure maybe there is some miracle lol.

I have both.

PC-A17 is better for cabling (all those holes) and cooling (2x12 fan + 1x14cm fan in default, in most extreme scenario you can have 3x12cm fan at front, 1x12cm fan at back and 1x14cm at top) - especially cool for 360 rad at drive bays if you remove all those dividers in front.
PC-V1000 on other side is, well, much, much more better in visual apearance, but cabling is problematic without some modding and you cant do a really clean cabling without mods. But it's not that bad, it's just not the best case for absolutely clean cabling.

If i would buy a new case from these, two, then it would be a PC-V1200 or one of new PC-V1010/PC-V1000Z cases :D - because PSU divider is really in the way.

Thanks I agree 1000b is much better looking case. I was looking at it and for watercooling it would be much better to reverse the psu by placing it in the front. that way it makes for a cleaner tubing.

It is pretty nice, but I'm running out of space and it is hard to hide cables in. Front airflow isn't the greatest either... and one 80mm back. I like the "flipped' atx or btx or whatever it is in the 1200. (I've been out of touch in terminology for a while)

Using low noise fans at CPU cooler ? Ah wait, there is no way to replace fan in that cooler. Buy a better cooler which doesn't have the fan hardwired into it (task no. 2). Or try to mod your zalman :

Cuts down noise by about 1/3 but also reduces the efficiency of exhausting air out of the PSU so you need to think of the balance heat vs noise before considering one.

PeteLightning
08-29-2008, 12:42 AM
for all the holes in the case i just used a dremel with the reinforced cutting wheel. i left about a 1/4" then went in with a file for the detail. For the painting i lightly sanded before i primed, let dry for about a day, lightly sanded then applied the second coat of primer, let it sit for another day, sanded then i used the same technique for the flat black making sure to get rid of all of the little particles between the coats. 2 coats of primer 2 coats of black total, all rustoleium. and to keep the flat black i did not use a clear coat. spray paint looks pretty good if you do it right. quick note, i got the case before the revision so i had no holes in the mb tray

I have change the fan to four 140mm,its was two to the beginning.
Two to the front, one up and one down, one to the middle and one to the backside.
Will change the harddisk holder to metal....you can feel the vibrations from the disk and
there are the Lianli not good.At my lian V1100+ was the vibrations much badly...so metal
to the disk holder!not alu.
My temps is very fine now!About 5 to 10 degreeds lower against the V1100+

http://www.sidbushes.com/majesty/inside.jpg

At front bottom is a four-switch panel; the first two switches control the interior lighting. The other two switches, as yet, do nothing. Not visible in the pictures, I made a small circuit so that when the computer is off, the Bulgin power switch glows dimly instead of being off---partly because it looks cool and partly so I can easily find the power button in a dark room.

Thanks Ryle, I used velco on the optical just in case I ever need to reposition it and also it comes off alot easier than double sided tape does. The fan controller is a Zalman modded into a LL panel as well. I like what you did with the HDD's, very clean, i've been contemplating makeing a hole for the front fan, but I just can't bring myself to do it haha, I usually just leave the front off if it gets too hot

I'm using a V1000B and an 8800 with plenty of leftover room... most of the V Series cases are fine... you'd probably be fine with the A05 as well, I've seen people pack those little boxes with some serious hardware... pvtdonuts' A05B a few posts up is a good example of this. I would even go as far as to say most of the Lian Li mid towers would have room to do what you want... but if the price is right I would go for that V1200 you mentioned... that's a nice case.

That looks like the PC-65B windowed side panel (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=280&products_id=20301).

Dimensions on the PC-65B: Size: 490(L) x 210(W) x 450(H)mm
Dimensions on the PC-G7: Size: 490(L) x 210(W) x 450(H)mm

So the side panel SHOULD theoretically fit.

I finally got my PC-8's yesterday.

Just in case any are curious, the side panel of my PC-65 fits
the PC-8 perfectly. Also, the new cases don't all come with
thumb screws on the card slots. However, you'll be happy to
know that it's the same thread pattern so you'll be able to
order extra thumb screws and replace the Phillips/Slot screws
included.

Since this is a pic thread, I'll post a pic from my pathetic
cam. God, what a piece of shit. I'll grab a new Canon
tomorrow and post some better pics. I'll also be comparing
the PC-8 to my old PC-65 <3.

I'm about to change my PC-G7 to this one and make custom window side panel so already searching for small molding!

Is anyone here using this stuff? http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=132&products_id=1462

And this is what I used to mount the window, it's very strong stuff - http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=132&products_id=22268

I'll try and take some closer pics if you like.

I agree, though I do like the simple design of the v1000, and always my pc-60.

Here's the new power supply in. I still haven't decided on a fan/light controller, so there's some clutter at the front. No cutting was done to the case.

Very nice looking, but overpriced.

Lancool, eh, it's not bad but it's primarily steel (steel "skeleton") with plastic + aluminum outside. IMO there are better cases to be bought for $89 (K7B price), including several all aluminum LL's. ;)

It's nice, but I'm sure it'll be around $149+ and in that price range, I think it's too high.

I'm not trying to dog LL whatsoever; hell I own 3 of their cases - V1000BW PlusII, A05A, and the Rocketfish. Actually, I also owned an A05B that I modded and then sold, so technically I've owned 4 of their cases total. I love their cases, they are very nice. It just seems like they're recycling a lot of their older cases that are now cheap (ie 60/65/7 series), adding one or two new things, and then selling them for $149+.

I love my V1000BW PlusII (which I paid $179 on sale for at Directron); it was the case I always wanted (over the last 1 1/2 years) but I didn't want to pay over $149 for a case. Eventually I caved when it went on sale, and it was worth every penny and more. (Had I seen one firsthand before buying one and gotten 10 minutes to play around with it, I would've paid the normal $229 price after all.) It's a great case, it's my favorite case, and I will be buried with the case. :p That being said -

A lot of their other cases are too similar for me. Maybe I'm complaining unnecessarily, but aside from a few very nice cases that are out-of-the-ordinary (for one reason or another), many of their cases share the same design traits yet they can double or triple the prices on those and I guess I'm calling BS on that.

It's hard to recommend 90% of their cases these days (the standard or clone looking ones) when other companies make very nice cases (albeit many of which are steel) for 1/3 of the price. IE I just got an Antec 300 for $47 shipped last week and I'm very impressed with it...yet the Armorsuit cases which are very similar to the Antec 300/900/1200 (albeit aluminum), they're upwards of $249 and I think that's ridiculous.

/off soapbox, I swear :D

faugusztin

Be happy you are not living in Europe. Here in Slovakia for $149 you can buy (checking web...) Lancool K7 or PC-7B Plus II, maybe PC-A09B... VAT, european overpricing, small country - all that together means that for $149 you get a lowend Lian Li :D
Antec 300 ? $125. Antec 900 ? $189. Antec 1200 ? $243. For $47 you can get maybe Coolermaster Elite 331 here... And i guess your wages are lot more than my cca $1600 netto monthly wage which i get here in Slovakia ;) .

Actually my favorites are PC-V series, PC-A17 because of Lian Li midtower Stacker-like case and PC-V350, which i'm unfortunately unable to have (not going to buy 3rd PC :D, considering i have 2 PCs and 1 notebook ).

And i'm angry at Lian Li too, but not for lack of inovations, but for lack of delivery :D. Waiting for BZ-502 since may (nowhere to be seen in Europe), no EX-33N or EX-33N1 in Europe, no EX-H33 in Europe - so i was "forced" to buy a standard EX-33 for my server and Scythe Kama Bay for my desktop.
Once EX-33 will arrive, i will post pics of my PC-A17 server (P5K-E/WIFI-AP, E7200, Scythe Ninja, 2x2GB Patriot DDR2, 4xWD6400AAKS, 1xSamsung DVD, 3x Noctua fans :D, HX520).

The A16 comes with those mesh covers on the front:
http://www.frozencpu.com/images/products/main/cpa-238.jpg

But I liked the look of the original "sleek" covers better, so I bought 6 of the original style covers to replace them:
http://www.frozencpu.com/images/products/main/cpa-02.jpg

That gives my case that smooth look that made Lian-Li so famous, but I still have the mesh covers if I want to increase airflow, like I did in the bottom bay.

Performance-PCs also has the 120mm fan-sized cage, if that's what you are looking for, too.

Yeah, I agree—see my post (http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1032967230&postcount=3330). I sold my mesh covers on eBay, though. My increased airflow comes through the 3×120mm-fan radiator mounted to the bottom of the case. :D

Lian-Li is doing the cases a disservice with the mesh covers on non-mesh cases, I think. Leave the perforated look to the V-series cases. They should definitely be available, but I don't think they should be the defaults.

I bought one of those for my V1000 and it did not fit.

I can't say it won't fit for other LL cases, but the 1000 has standard screw slots and the 343 bay fan has non-standard looking screw holes that may be special and exclusive to the 343 case only. I couldn't even screw it in, period. I installed it, letting it sit loose, but it wasn't an ideal fit so I ended up sending the part back to PPCs for a refund.

Yeah, that's why i'm waiting for BZ-502... Too bad it's nowhere available. Right now i use Kama Bay (http://scythe-usa.com/product/acc/008/sckb1000_detail.html), but it is not ideal either. Why ? Well, the design doesn't fit the front too much, but that's the smaller issue. The bigger problem is that there is a 1-2mm gap on both left and right side, which looks fugly. :(

Actually a pretty clever place for the radiator. And while I agree that it looks fine, I think it would be improved by a radgrill over it, on the outside of the case. It'd also keep the radiator fins protected from dings or damage.

Nope. But its not directly on the tray, I have some of Petra's "Gel stuff" on it. That stuff really works cutting down vibrations drastically.

the ex33 and ex34 fit, and can be disassembled if you dont want/need the hdd racks.

I have EX-33, yes it can be dissasembled, but there is a problem - you have nothing with which you can fix it to the case. The holes for case are few milimeters deeper in case than depth of the EX-33 front part.

This was a freebee job from a good friend. I think you should play around with the ISO settings, never hold the camera directly, and never use direct light on the subject. (tripods are your friends)

Also shoot on a white background.

If your camera can do it, shoot a long exposure, 30 seconds is a good number to pickup the shadows. Careful to not blow out the highlights though.

I recommend not bumping up the ISO unless you have to, that can produce unwanted grain depending on your camera.

its discontinued. the v2010 is pretty much the same case, has punch outs for wc, and the classic motherboard mounting (cpu on top).

you can still get the v2000 plus 2 at a few places. decent price, about what i paid for my v1000b w plus2 last year.

The word is "voilà (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/voila)", not "walla".

I have the eSATA BlacX and it works well. In theory the drive runs as fast as if it were plugged into internal SATA. In practice, it's faster than when I used a USB box, but I don't know if it's full-SATA speeds. The problem I find is that Vista isn't very aware of eSATA: I have to "Refresh" in Device Manager for the drive to show up, and then there's no "Safely Remove" for the drive.

P.S. My eSATA controller is a SiI 3132 PCI Express card, with one internal SATA and one eSATA port. Maybe I'm using the wrong drivers or something.

I have a 160gb 2.5" hdd in it,which when plugged into the bay in my pc,runs the drive at full sata speed.I have my sata mode on my board to ahci so it will hot swap to.I can plug it in and out without having to safely remove it or at all.

That's what makes it a tough call . . . it's hard to beat the TJ09 on both looks and function but it's just a hard to let a nicely windowed V1200 Plus sit there unused.

What lighting are you using for the front and was it difficult to install?

I am just using a pair of 12" Logisys white cold cathodes (http://www.xoxide.com/dual-white-cold-cathode-kit.html?productid=dual-white-cold-cathode-kit&channelid=FROOG).
Mounting them is really simple... but I recommend some good double sided tape. I use 3M 4010 (http://www.antonline.com/p_4010-NX_395939.htm) as recommended by Bill Owen over at MNPCTech... this stuff is serious, yet easy to remove if needed. You can find this online everywhere, and maybe locally at WalMart.
Anyway, all you do is put the tape on the square ends of the c.c. tube and slide it down in front of the case, you should see where the can mount them once you put them in there. Then I just mounted the inverter for the tubes on the backside of the 5.25" drive cage.

Some shots of the inside the bulkhead worked out perfectly. The cards will not move up or down. The Southbridge/MCP heatsink pictured earlier just couldn't keep the MCP below 100C and that would cause the machine to crash. So got one of the EVGA MCP fan units and painted it. For some reason when I turn the lights on and off the fan stops working. Waiting on EVGA/Nvidia for some tech support on that.

Back of the case. Next time need to do a little better job cutting the back open for the motherboard tray. Had to use a motherboard tray so that I could clear the radiator at the top of the chassis.

Open you can see the bulkhead seperating the Wires from the motherboard side of the chassis.

Really crappy picture of the UV lights on the resevoir. I have yet to find a set of UV light LEDs I would place anywhere that you could see the led body itself. I will try to update this picture when I find my tripod.

So that is it. All the problems I had with the video card, power supplies, and motherboard are behind me. The machine appears to be working perfectly with no issues. Have already taken it to a Lan party and everyone liked it. It will be at PDXLan 12.5 and PDXLan 13, Hope I see some of you guys there.

The aluminum is actually anodized. The plastic parts are painted. I even anodized the black mosfet heatsinks on the motherboard.
