Well, that is just it - patience. I don't have a whole lot of time but I'm not short of computers so I take my time and do it right. It takes more time to fix screw-ups.

Simple theory though - if you want to make a nice case buy it seperately. Then you still have the machine in the old case while you work on the permanent one. Don't rush any step. These days, I'm probably the slowest modder on the net but so far I am always pleased with the end result.

slow and steady wins the race:D wasn't your truck featured in maximum pc not too long ago? i was bored and browsing through one in the supermarket while waiting for mom to finish choosing stuff, and i was sorta surprised to see the familiar frontier:p again, congrats on a job well done.

It was the January "Computer Power User". I thought the title to the article was kinda cool: "Modding's Final Frontier"

:D

What about WiFi? Some companies here in the States are offering roaming WiFi blanketing huge areas.. Anything like that in Canada you could tap into? That would be the icing on an already [H]ard cake. :p

Nah, this is Northern Ontario (not the end of the world but we can see it from here....) cellular coverage is iffy most of the time (sucks, actually). Once I get my butt back in gear on this project I'll have the sat phone hooked in. Its only 9600 baud but will do email anyhow (anywhere on earth...)

Truly outstanding work....the mod I was thinking of doing required MUCH less work, and probably $6,000 cheaper too. I got a '99 GMC Adventure class 1/2 ton EXT. cab and EVERYTHING will fit under the back seat with nothing visible, I am not sure about is HOW to splice into the OEM factory harness's line in circuit (there is a "Line in" button on the factory head unit), then later purchase amps & components. the monitor I was going to make a small case with a handle to pull out from under the seat and set it anywhere in the truck (ie. passanger seat or back seat). no plans to mod a case as I have one that is horizontal and will work perfect.

Once again that is some great work....

P.S. any info on that harness I mentioned would be greatly appreciated. I can't find a schematic in the Haynes or Chilton manuals that I have access to.

PS-Rage I recently bought an '02 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab 4X4 (Same as yours' I believe?). and in my ubergeekiness the first thing I did was start researching how to carputerize it, Hence I found details on your truck. Awsome job BTW!

Anyway, My question being, with the recent advances on the CarPC scene and your knowledge through trial and error. If you could do it all over again with todays tech and build the perfect PC for this truck, what would you do differently? What hardware would you change?

I would perfer my build to be as compact and hidden as possible because I often have to use all my seating.Any advice would be greatly appriciated!

Thanx,
Sylent

Unfortunatly, I'm no Big Shot, plus I'd rather Do it myself, having someone else do it would take all the fun out of it.
