Just received an email from Amazon stating my Windows 7 pre-order was delayed and won't make the release date delivery originally promised. However they are refunding the full shipping costs.

I guess the demand was more than Amazon could handle.

Sorry to hear that. But I am delighted that Windows 7 is in such high demand. You'll enjoy it when you get it I believe.

Ordered mine using Amazon Prime back in June when Microsoft had the official promotion discounts. Got several copies all of them arriving today with SAME DAY RELEASE DELIVERY GUARANTEED. On the truck now for delivery, can't wait, so no delays here.

I read an article somewhere, maybe it was featured here on [H]? that stated Amazon had more Win7 pre-orders than a Harry Potter movie, which previously held the record for the largest number of pre-orders at Amazon.

That was for Amazon UK, but even still that's a hella of lot of pre-orders

I got my copy yesterday from Amazon UK. The postal strike meant that everyone has been sending out Win7 early in the UK.

Mine came in this morning from Amazon.com. I am posting this from my shiny new install of Win7 retail.
