I lost my progress and would like to finish the game. Anything 30 - 60 % complete would be awesome.

Mine is at 50.03%. I always thought I was about half way...

Thanks to Crucible1001 for his saved game, but it doesn't work. Tries to load and tells me to check my hard drive. :D

I'm thinking it might not be possible to transfer saved games from one account to another. Anyone else have a set of files to let me try out?

They're stored in different directories in XP and Vista. Make sure you're copying to the respective one.

I order for your saved game to work, you also have to copy the "Xlive" folder from your Local Settings folder in AppData. This is what links your saved game to your Games for Windows account. Without this your save will be invalid.

Are you serious? So your save file is more or less tied to your Live account? Lamezors :(

Yes.
Its the dumbest shit since matchmaking on the PC.
GFWL is horseshit. But I put up with it for Street Fighter IV and GTA. It's still fucking horseshit, however.

The only real benefit of GFWL is that it stores your saves remotely so you can play on multiple PCs under the same account and so you never lose your progress.

I did. It was in appdata/local/microsoft/, not just in appdata/local/.

you can use a gta4 mod called xliveless (http://www.gta4-mods.com/tools/xliveless-097b-f2408)to load the save file. it disables the multiplayer though. =/

Many thanks to Crucible1001; I have working GTA. Looks like I skipped a bit, but no way was I starting that game over again. The performance is TERRIBLE!
