In certian applications such as photoshop and my audio driver utility, certian areas will black out making the application very hard to work with.
Could anyone give feedback as to what may be the cause?
Windows XP SP3 is up to date and the same goes for my video, sound and mobo drivers.
When I bring up photoshop it looks normal. But as soon as I mouse over the tool bars, this is the result that I get.

Example of it happening with my audio driver utility as well.

This is how it looks when I move the window off screen and back on. It clears up - for now.

When did this start happening? No software installed or any other type of driver update? You might want to list your specs as well.

You might want to start by answering heatlesssun's questions. Sounds like a driver issue.

It seemed to come out of the blue. No driver updates at the time it happened, but I did reinstall my graphic and sound drivers once I noticed this issue.
If the answer is a driver issue that's all I really need to hear I guess. From here I can try to narrow down the issue.

Are you using integrated video?

No, PCIe 8800 Ultra
But my motherboard has integrated graphics. They are enabled but I don't use them. If I disable it my computer goes bonkers as the chipset uses hybrid sli and even when not enabled, it still relies on the integrated GPU for booting up etc. for whatever reasons.
Mobo = GeForce 9400 mGPU (730i)
I've had this mobo for a while and haven't experienced any weird issues until just lately. By chance does Adobe have a driver or w/e that may be causing this issue? Because applying a CS3 update was one of the last things I did before I started experiencing these issues.
BTW is there a generic term that I can search for regarding this issue? I'm searching for "GDI" (Graphics Device Interface) but haven't found anything.

Problem fixed.
Changed the bios so it would disable integrated gpu if pcie is present. normally this would not let me boot for which ever reason. but for now its working. I would have had this setting in place long ago if it worked back them.
Its weird that after all this time the gdi/gui is messing up now.
But for now the problem appears to be fixed.

Just in case anyone else is having a problem like this, it happened to me on Windows 7 using an old nVidia driver. (I think it was the first release for Windows 7...) An update fixed it. On a side note, Visual Studio - GDI objects = major fail.

This could also indicate the memory on the video adapter is failing. You'd probably see some other atifacts along with it as well.
