Question about zif conectors

Hi guys i was wondering if a zif style conector in my netbook wich has a 1.8" hdd could supply enough power to spin up a 2.5 hdd since i found some adapters online that convert the zif to female pata hdd connector like on ribbon cables im think about buying one and using an old 2.5" hdd ive got lying around to increase my storage since its dificult to find large 1.8" hdd's my worries are that it might fry the motherboard from trying to draw to much power or not supplying enough voltage to spin up the larger drive any of got some experience in something like this?
