I do something along the same lines. My workgroup is called Avatar (a cartoon show) and all my comps are the character's pet names according to their size. So, if you know anything about the show, my server is called Appa, my everyday laptop is called Momo, and my 12" tablet is called Hawkie.

I guess I'm just lazy. My home server names follow my work server names.
DC-01, FS-01, MX-01, etc. Home server needs to be reloaded as I've downgraded to a single sbs server for home and it was called SBS2k3 or something. When I get around to loading 2k8 it will just end up being DC-01 or SBS1 or something.

my domain is Skynet !
I used to name them after planets or moons, then after so many machines and retiring names when the machine was retired, I just decided to name them after what they do. Now my servers names' are Server1 and Server2, HTPC's are HTPC1 and HTPC2, KitchenPC, etc.

SMLib or ScarletLibrary sucked, so I decided on ScarletMonastery. That didn't fit, so it's now Redmonastery.
Couldn't think offhand of any other libraries. Yes, I do remember NOW about the Discs of Norgannon, Dalaran etc.

My WHS server is "servy", my general-use laptop/workstation is "poptart" and my gaming desktop rig is "bitchslap". Not sure what my girlfriend calls her laptop, but I think it is just "GIRLFRIENDNAME-PC". I think my router is named "subway", or it should be. I don't really know where the names came from, but they have been the same forever.
My old laptop I keep around for travel and such was named by a friend when I got it, and he named it "lollerskates".

Server names I have used...
Teletraan-1 - you gotta be a child of the 80's to know where this originates from.;)
Mnemosyne (Greek Goddess of memory) - Used for a File Server.
Biblios (Biblio is the greek prefix meaning a collection of books) - Used for a file server.
Cerberus/Kerberos (Three headed dog guarding hell) - I used this name for a server I built as a router and firewall.

sm-FS2 - Backup file server for important stuff, like documents
sm-VM1 - VM server

I like borg designations. I have twin boys, and wanted to name them 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. Wife said no, even after I explained to her that would make her the borg queen, and the borg queen is one hot sexy bitch!! Oh well.
I don't have a whs server, but if I did, I'd name it serverizer. It would fit well with printerizer (print server) and routerizer (not explaining another in this pattern)

Mine isn't really consistent:
Server: Cosmos

I used to name everything after the matrix, server was zion, my pc was neo wifes was trinity etc, now i just dont bother getting creative, server is server my pc is mikes pc etc.
My company aquired another company sometime last year. Thier old sys admin named all the company equipment after Matrix stuff. Photocopiers, printers and all. It was a PITA i tell you. Oracle was not the database server as one would almost expect, but instead it was the key card controller for the building doors. Stupid crap like that happened all over. Then they ran out of names, not sure how cause there are ALOT, and started using sesame street characters after that.
Eventually i got tired of correcting spelling mistakes in peoples code (no one could ever spell nebuchadnezzar or snuffleupagus correctly) and slowly decommissioned everything i could and migrated stuff to something more sane.
