I have a server with an Adaptec 21610SA adapter. (I know, I know. It's a test server at home, so the perf issues aren't really a concern.)
I'm running two 750 gig drives in RAID0, and six 250 gig drives in RAID5.
One of the RAID5 drives has failed, and to my surprise this has dismounted the volume. The Storage MAnager utility says that the failed drive is "rebuilding", which doesn't make much sense to me. I can't find any location where the tool explains what progress is being made, or offers an ETA, and none of the activity lights on the controller are showing usage.
I haven't lost anything--I'm about three days back with a backup. But I'm concerned that a bug in the controller won't let me realize the benefit of RAID5 -- having uptime while I replace the drive in the set.
Does anyone know how to get the controller to use the remaining drives so I can retrieve my data?
