So I purchased a new MOBO, EP45-UP3P, was given a Q6600 Kingsfield, and threw in a 500 gig sata drive in an already existing PC, loaded Win 7 RC 64 bit and everything works great!! Drivers installed perfectly. Even got a good system score at 6.2. I am just happy that I had no problems with installing compenents and drivers:) Operating systems have come a long way

The EP45-UD3P is probably the best mobo you can get in the $100 price range. Easy 50% overclock. I haven't been brave enough to put Windows 7 on it. I'll probably wait for the final.Good to hear it worked out for you.

Too bad it doesn't stop Apple from using the stupid "Have they figured out how to make PCs as hassle free as a Mac?" line.

That's a good question. I've got a short-stroked 80-gig vraptor and I'm only pulling 5.9. Not that I really give a shit, but it is interesting from an academic standpoint.

Free space is also factored in, smaller drives are automatically handicapped slightly (especially with less than 15% free space left available on the drive.)

Man Im just having good luck. I have a Hackintosh on a separate drive running OSX leopard, booted to that drive and my MAC OS worked flawlessly as well! I know this has nothing to do with Win7, but I just love this MOBO. All i need is the new ram, and a different CPU Cooler in order to overclock this (cheep) bad boy.
My ram is limiting me its DDR2 2gigs of PC4300
Im ordering this memory on Tuesday,

unless some of you think I should choose different ram?

I think they're talking about the long run. Macs usually doesn't need a re-install every year or so like Windows does (depending on usage of course). We have several Macs here at work that had their operating system installed in the beginning of 2006 and they still run just fine. No registry that freaks out and no .dll hell. :)

I worked at a place where a bit over 50% of the computers on the networks were Macs. I remember doing many reinstalls.

The current PC that I'm typing from right now is my primary gaming computer at home, it's current OS install is probably about 4 years old...runs like a champ, tight, fast, solid.

I've not had the need for reinstalling at a frequency > than once per year since the Win9X days. Since Win2K...I prefer it to last several years, til I get new hardware.

I'm a small business network consultant as my profession, I have many..many small business clients spread throughout 4 states. 99.9% of those PCs are running Windows. A huge percentage of those running their installs easily since 2006 or earlier. The need for reinstalling an OS for me? Probably less than 1% of my end users...and that's due to a huge issue. ;)

Wow, interesting. I tend to hear the opposite, and I also work in the IT field as my profession. :)
It's at an office where we have 300+ users and roughly split in half when it comes to Mac and WIndows users (Macs for catalogue creation/production and WIndows for Office and business stuff). We definitely have more people supporting Windows, that's all I can say. I'm not saying that Windows has to be bad, just that it requires more attention.

All I have recommended to switch to the Mac (from Windows) has been happy about doing so.
But I like Windows too! (at home I run Mac OS X on one drive and Windows 7 on another)

My 640 black gets 5.9. with a raptor or even a SSD higher shouldn't be that hard.
