I cant get my motherboard disc to run in Windows 7 RC - I get the error window: incompatible with the OS . On ASUS's web page they list the motherboards they've got W7 beta drivers for, and mine isn't among them (yet?). My question is, isn't there SOMETHING I can do to get my motherboard installed in this OS? Im off to a standing start.

You could try downloading and installing the Vista drivers for your board. So far they have worked for all the pieces of hardware I have that don't have Win7 drivers available yet.

I installed W7-RC and just used the provided drivers and everthing is running fine. I updated the Realtek Gigabit controller but other than that everthing for the board is from the standard W7 install. I had to run the setup for Turbo V and other extra's in Vista compatability mode but they installed ok. I overclocked through the bio's which was extremely easy with the Gene and just use Turbo V to check on voltages and such when I am in windows.

The discs that ship with motherboards are usually only good for one thing...a beverage coaster to use during the initial install. Or a frisbee, perhaps. You can always find better and newer drivers if you look yourself, either on the motherboard's website, or at the hardware vendor's website.

Hey thanks for the tips. When I visited the ASUS support site they only offered the bios file (as far as I could find). So I think I found what I need at Softpedia (at least the Intel chipset utility), and it looks like I may need to find some drivers at separate locations (per rscott). Again thanks ALL!

Why wouldn't you just get the Intel drivers at....Intel.com?

Pssshhh, that makes too much sense! Didn't you get the memo? We frown upon your "logic" and "common sense" in the modern world.

Sorry I just read an article about the EU.

But you should be able to get most drivers from the support section of the manufacturers of the products site (I.e Intel.com, realtek.com.tw, etc).

I dont know if it'll work, but on games that run into this problem I saw some advice that went something like:
STEP 1: Locate the games setup.exe file.
Step 2: Right click the file and select Properties.
STEP 3: In the new window click the “Compatibility” tab then check the box under “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and choose “Windows XP SP2”.
STEP 4: Under the “Privilege Level” select “Run this program as an Administrator”.
Apply the changes, OK

I already have the drivers downloaded, but I'll probably try this with the motherboard disk just for yucks.

Spoke too soon. After reboot I got the red eye error on NOD v4. I disabled UAC, rebooted, reinstalled on top running msi as admin. Reboot, enabled UAC, reboot. Red eye now gone. Appears to be ok, we'll see.
