Nvidia drivers delay welcome screen

This doesn't effect performance. But everytime I install the nvidia drivers don't matter what version they make the welcome screen take around 30 to 40secs before the desktop comes up.

So what is nvidia drivers doing to cause a 30sec delay between loging in and the desktop coming up?

Go into msconfig and try disabling the Nvidia helper files that run on start up.

I see two entries for nvidia

RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit

Its funny MS does all this work to get faster boot times, and nvidia does just the opposite.

Try disabling both of those. It might knock out your ability to use the Nvidia control panel though, but the drivers will still function properly.
