Are there any known issues with 2 paired together?

I was running Vista x64 and used imgburn without issue with cd's and DVD's ..even burned the Win7 x64 ISO to DVD right before installing Win7 x64 on the same computer with said burned DVD ...

Now tho , I was just simply trying to burn Ubuntu 9.04 to a cd and kept getting I/O errors .. I tried a couple different times wasting my blank cd's with the same result thinking maybe I had a bad disc .. I redownloaded the iso image even and retried ...didn't think a bad image would give me I/O errors but thought what the heck ..still got I/O errors with new iso ..

Finally , I transferred the same ISO image over to an XP box I have on my network and used the same type of blank media and then with imgburn was able to successfully burn the ISO image to CD without issue ..

..I'm at work right now so can't put up any log files , but the DVD drive is an IDE DVD +/- RW on an Abit IP35 Pro mobo ..

Just wondering if there is a known issue or did my DVD coincidentally take a dump right after installing Win7 ..or is Win7 a lot more touchy when it comes to overclocking as I do have my Q6600@3.0ghz w/4gb of ram .. I guess I'll try stock speeds when I get home tomorrow and see..

Try burning an image of something else and see if that works.

I have not used IMGBurn with Windows 7, but I have burned a ton of iso images using the built in iso burner without any trouble at all.

I wonder if anybody using the P35 Intel chipset and an IDE burner are having/not having issues.

I installed the beta drivers from intel .. maybe thats the cause of my problems? things I'll try when I get off of work in the morning ..

-roll back drivers
-update firmware on drive
-change out DVD burners

imgburn working fine for me.

that would seem to suggest that there isn't any inherent problems with the software itself then if y our running under Win7 x64 ..thanks

Windows 7 has a built in ISO burner (right click on an ISO, select the option to burn), but that's it, no other formats will work. I've been using ImgBurn on every build of Windows 7 I've tested and never noticed any issues whatsoever, and that's x86 and x64 builds across tons of installations.

It could be something with the controller, definitely, but as IDE stuff is old (meaning the controllers), the drivers that come with Windows 7 will already be the latest you're going to get. SATA drivers continue to mature and get updated, but old ATA/IDE stuff has been around so long those drivers are practically elderly in terms of maturity.

The drive itself could be going bad, that's always something to consider.

I've been using IMGBurn on Win7 x64 with no issues whatsoever.

But yeah, give the built-in Win7 ISO Burner a shot.
